Wilson is gonna be good this year, no doubt. The LB's looked good also, except for one.

I think if this had been a regular game with the 1's, I think it would have ended up being been a total beatdown, a 40 burger. The Saints were already starting to run away with it, when the starters came out. D line looked better than last year, that's for sure. Seems to me like guys have more "motor" to them than last year, more hustle.

What I came away with from last night's game is this:

Our defense is going to be better this year. I'm not saying we're going to see the return of the dome patrol, but the way the line got pressure was night and day. I know it's WAY early, and I'm not jumping up and down by any means, but I am definitely tweaked by the potential.

I thought Tez looked good, especially on the first sack where he made an inside rush (DL stunt). On the second one, he looked like he was shot out of a cannon from the outside. If this guy learns another pass rush move besides the speed rush (like a spin move) he could be really deadly.

Tyrunn Walker (#75) also impressed me. I know he was playing against 2nd and 3rd teamers, but he was impressive, Lets see what he can do if he plays against Tom Brady.

The DE's played very well. Cam Jordan looked powerful and aggressive. Tez is going to fit in beautifully at DE. I'm looking forward to seeing him progress even more. Sed Ellis looked good but I think most of his good plays came against the"back up" QB and the second string O-line. There were a couple of brights spots for the DT's but I was deeply disappointed in what I viewed as a failure at the line of scrimmage.jmho
As I watched the game I just really never saw that impact player that every team needs. The midle basically was stationary and stopped at the line of scrimmage mostly. We've got to get another DT. Either through trade or off the waiver wire. It's highly unlikely we'll find that player on the waiver wire though.

No one has mentioned Loften he's a beast against the run he looked good last night

First, it was Kevin Kolb in preseason...

Second, there pass protection (new offensive linemen, rookie RB's learning pass protection at the NFL level) is as suspect as their quarterback...

That said, even in those situations last season we got no pass rush with out a dime blitz, so yeah, it's progress...

I just hope Jenkins' INT, however easy it might have been, gives him some confidence.

Jenkins interception was so easy because the front 4 was putting on pressure. By design this should help all of our DBs get more catchable balls.

Maybe Hicks will be that bright spot when the regular season kicks off and his hand has healed up.

Anyway, it did seem like the front 4 was creating more pressure up front with the vanilla schemes they were running, but I reserve my judgment for later when I've seen them play more games and go against better O-lines than what the Cardinals have to offer. The Patriots should be a better yard-stick in this regard, since their O-line is vastly better than the Cards'.

On a side note, Marcel Jones looked good as the 2nd string RT, so the Saints might have another "diamond in the rough" O-lineman in him... he is from Nebraska so I guess it was a given. ;-)
