Areas of intrigue at joint practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has never practiced against another team during training camp throughout the first nine years of his NFL career, but that is set to change when the Patriots and Saints hit the field together on Tuesday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.

On Monday, the day before his first joint practice as an NFL player, Lloyd expressed enthusiasm about going against opponents other than his own teammates.

"I think it's good to go against another team, guys who aren't familiar with your patterns and alignments and releases," he said. "The competition obviously is fun, it's a fun part of practicing, but to go against another team definitely ramps it up a little bit."

We're not yet sure what pace and tempo the two teams will practice at on Tuesday (Wednesday's joint session will probably be closer to a walkthrough), but there's a solid chance we'll see a number of individual matchups, during both drills and 11-on-11 team work.

The corner position intrigues me the most.........our scouts better be looking around in case another corner goes down.

Defensive backfield does look like it could be problematic

Wonder if anyone still has Jason David's phone #?

I get nervous about these joint practices. At any moment the competitive bug can kick in and players can turn it up a notch and people can get injured.

Same thing can happen in normal practice.

I think we'll be OK because all of these injuries are all minor. Even Greer will be ready before the season starts.

It hurts that these guys aren't getting the playing time under Spags that they really need, but I guess the silver lining is we get a really good look at our 4th thru 9th CBs.

And we get to see them against the 1st team offenses early in the games, at real game speed.
We will know for sure whether we need to look for others...

How many of these injuries are one and done vs recurring plagues that may haunt us the rest of the year.

Hamstrings can be a season long pain in the arse... Turf toe also...
