New Orleans Saints sit out eight players

In fact, the Saints No. 1 cornerback during practice against the Patriots was fourth on their depth chart – Marquis Johnson.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo would rather have his starters practicing, but the timing at least is OK.
“We’re kind of getting dinged up right now,” Spagnuolo said. “I went through that last year unfortunately losing a lot of corners, so I don’t want to go through it again. But I’d rather have it happen now and get the guys to bounce back and have them for the regular season.”
Running back Mark Ingram sat out along with offensive guard Andrew Tiller, linebacker David Hawthorne and cornerback Jabari Greer.
Ingram began preseason practicing every other day after having offseason surgery on both a knee and his foot. Ingram ran four times for 14 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's preseason game against Arizona.
Those not on the practice field at all were receiver Adrian Arrington, Devery Henderson and Nick Toon and defensive lineman Tom Johnson.
And the list grew by one midway through practice. Cornerback Johnny Patrick left with head trainer Scottie Patton.
Meanwhile, cornerback Patrick Robinson returned to practice after missing four practices and the preseason opener against Arizona, working in shells, shorts and a helmet.
Additionally, receiver Kevin Hardy and linebacker Ramon Humber did non-contact work per the new CBA because they hadn’t gone through three non-padded days since being signed

Jesus Christ. WTF. Most of these guys are starters or close to it too. What is it about Spags defense that lends itself to corners getting hurt? He had no corners last year. I thought I saw Ingram hobbling a little bit after his first try at the goal line. We cannot afford to have many injuries if we are going to make a serious run at the SB this year. This pretty much ruins my day.

Hopefully none of the injuries are too severe. Get these guys healthy and ready to go for Week 1 when it counts.

Of course they're dinged up. It's not like anyone was getting hit in camp this year.... #goodellsnewnfl

Good point. It seems kinda counterintuitive at first, in terms of player safety, but if you're not getting hit in camp, or not practicing at full speed in pads, it comes as more of a surprise when you get out there and the games are live, and you won't be as prepared for the hits and contact.

Do we still have the same trainers from a couple of years ago? We have had a rash of injuries in the last few years. Players not stretching out well enough may be part of the problem.
I remember several players being misdiagnosed and so forth and .........
