Tanner Hit HoF Game

I just subscribed to Pre-Season and saw that the HoF game replay was available on my PC... While flipping through this caught my eye.

Want to know how hard Tanner got hit? That's hit spit you see flying.

Also some Helmet to Helmet

.. yep, the commentators repeated 4-5 times it was a legal hit... of course, if the league is so concerned with about player safety, why has it not made all helmet to helmet hits illegal? I'd think it'd be a no-brainer (no pun intended).

Sure would like to see that hit from another angle (didn't see it during the game).

Appears the head was down - leading with the head.

Also the hit was helmet to helmet..should have been flagged but thats what happens when you have scabs reffin games.

I found a replay of the hit from another angle.

It may be considered legal, but Elder had his head down and doesn't appear to have been able to see where he was going.

Looks more like leading with the head and just happened to be legal - Player Safety my :censored::censored:

I think the rule is that if the receiver makes the catch and establishes himself as a runner (makes a "football move"), then it's OK to hit him helmet to helmet. Just like a running back.

Yeah, this is exactly what the commentators were referring to when they said that the hit was legal, and I guess they were correct in that Tanner did take a few steps and look at the direction of the tackler.

Legal the same way the hit on Pierre was legal in the playoff game against the 49'ers. I agree, it's stupid but hey... the NFL is run by idiots.

I'm not certain. After listening to those jack wagons all night I don't think they had much of a clue as to what town they were in much less what teams were playing or what would constitute a legal hit.

That capture was from a slow mo replay... He saw him coming sort of did ane eyes closed flinch... which is why he mouth flew open and the saliva purge happened.
