New Orleans Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton dims fears over loss of his suspended predecessor

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Shanle shouldn't start regardless of the Vilma situation. Has the guy even had a tackle in the Preseason? Casillas and Chamberlain both look outstanding thus far....

Yes, Shanle was credited with 1 solo tackle against the Cardinals. No stats against the Patriots

Casilias is credited with 7 tackles, 3 solo against the Patriots and 1 solo tackle against the Cardinals

Chamberlin is credited with 3 tackles, 1 solo against the Patriots. No stats against the Cardinals

Lofton is a great addition, right where we needed it.

If Shanle continues to start under his third OC we all need to just up about him and accept that we don't know what we're talking about.

I really haven't seen any lb. able to beat Shanle out of his starting position and it's been how many years now. I don't see it this year either. Lofton is the man in the middle for a long time even if Vilma comes back. I like what we have now, not what we had.

He's smart and he has good technique. He's usually in the right position. When the play comes to him, he has a pretty good tackling percentage. He's also supposed to be a great "team" guy. He does what ever he's asked and is always supportive to his team mates and the team.

His down side, which we all see all the time, is that he's not fast enough to chase down a play and not good in coverage. He's not quick enough getting off a block. And he's undersized so many linemen simply overpower him.
