Well I don't think anyone thinks he's Tony Gonzales. He is what he is, and thats a merely adequate TE that excells in blocking and may provide some pointers to our young TE's and may be an emergency fill in if one of our guys goes down during the season.

I highly doubt the front office brought him in hoping he'd be one of our top 3.

I thought the FO was pretty high on Bussy as a backup project. Guess not. with all the talent we have looks like he wont be back on the PS either.

Too bad about Bussey. He and Romeus were last years hopes for diamond in the rough D players. Hope he catches on somewhere.

Still not liking the Jones pick, but it looks like he may prove me wrong so far.

The Tiller pick wasn't my favorite either since he had that weight problem years back and it might indicate that he has some issues on the mental side.

Jones, on the other hand, had a much bigger upside in my mind and he has looked better on the right side of the O-line than Brown on the left, but that isn't saying much. Granted Jones didn't have a stellar game against the Pats and he found himself on his back looking at the sky during an interception, but he had pretty good scouting evaluations and should benefit greatly from having such a great O-line coach as Kromer teaching him. The Saints desperately need quality depth on the O-line and Strief is not a pro bowl RT, so maybe Kromer can build another Nebraska product into a starter like he did with Nicks.

And I don't have anything against Strief, but I'd rather see him as a depth guy than a starter.

I was hoping more out of Bussey, so it's sad it didn't work out for him with the Saints. But the Saints are a quality organization, and they've done this in the past with many players - release them early enough in the preseason, so that they still have a good chance to sign with another team.

Its probably a new CBA rule to prevent teams from stashing everyone on IR if they get a hangnail in training camp.

You are probably right-- I tried to find the rules before I posted that, but didn't spend that much time on it. I did see that his salary was/is $2.1m over 4 years, so that wouldn't be the issue.

There goes another one of our draft choices.

Man. There's something floating around in the back of my mind about Graham. It seems he started out like a house afire with the donkeys. Then he did something really stupid, pissed a lot of people off and it was all downhill from there. I think the skills are there and if The Saints can help him get his poop in a group, he could be a decent acquisition for us. I'll see if I can dig up what happened with him.

You get a like just for using "poop in a group"

Not good but to be expected. It usually means you had success with a UDFA or an FA instead, unless you're the Cleveland Browns...
