Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

Reports coming out of camp are saying that the defense is winning most of the battles. Brees was picked off twice today and overall QBs have been throwing a ton of them. They were sluggish agains NE who has one of the worst defenses in the league (granted its pre season) Is it the Oline that has not gelled yet? Do you notice pressure coming from Grubbs side? Or is just a testament to how much our defense has improved?

C'mon man! You worry way too much! Worried about Drew signing, look what happened. Just let things work themselves out, not even the regular season yet...

TBH if they didn't even show preseason on TV it wouldn't bother me.
Preseason = everything is vanilla...
You don't honestly think Sprags will show his hand when it doesn't mean anything do you

I was talking more about camp than the games.

no man it a testament to the D and how much more improved they or going into this up coming year and how good Spags is, Brees is Brees he'll show up when it counts and so will the rest of the O, if anything u should be happy think about it if our D can pick off Brees than they shouldn't have any problems with any other QBs we face this year

I hope so because we have to face the most elite QBs in the league. Both Mannings, Rodgers, one could argue Rivers but not quite elite and to a lesser extent Vick, Romo, and Cam. (Jury still out on him)

We gave Brady all he could handle for his only 2 series, we'll be okay...

The defense is VASTLY improved. No worries here at all.

I am convinced our defense is vastly improved. Don't want to jinx us, but if they continue to improve and by into the system I could see us being a top 10 defense the way its going. Damn that would be nice. Coach or no coach if the offense performs only slightly as much as it did last year with an improved defense we will be hell to beat. I don't want to just win, I want to RAPE teams like Green Bay and SF. Everyone else too. I mean total Angola type ****.

I'm gonna miss Meachem any way you cut SUCCESS and especially if you cut FAILURE.

Seriously, he didn't have enough time to make it from consistency to greatness.

I wouldn't concern yourself so much with Romo ... my experience with him is once he gets ahead by three touchdowns or so, he'll start throwing pick-sixes and lose the game for Dallas, circa 10/02/2011 ... "remember, football is a team game and no one player can be held personally responsible for a loss ... except Tony Romo" ... heard that from a Dallas fan, ... that offense is going to be ready to roll when the time comes, no doubts there ... it's more than likely the defense responding to the new coach and personnel added during the offseason.

Nope

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

I watched the game against the Pats last night. I do have a concern about our offense. A Big one.. on each broken play, on just about each tackle behind the line or scrimmage, and on the interception... Bushrod was manhandled by Chandler Jones a rookie.

Bushrod has Brees blind side, and if he is going to get manhandled this is a problem,a big one.

maybe he had bad chowder... maybe not.

I wouldn't be worried about it. I think he was just taken aback by the rookie Chandler Jones going so hard when he probably didn't go as hard in their practices. And as far as Bushrod dealing with high caliber DE's...remember he always has help chipping on his side when he has to play those types of DE's. I doubt he'll get beat like that all the time during the season.

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

Not even slightly. If our Defense is infact greatly improved, our offense at 75% will be enough to get us to the big game. Brees not having to go out and throw for another record is a good thing.

papz 08-15-2012 09:13 AM

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

Chandler Jones will be Jason Pierre Paul v2.0.

The kid is going to be a monster.

Not really concerned about Bushrod. When the season starts, we'll see more chipping and help from our TE's and RB's against those type of guys.

The only concern I have is that we have seen Brees and the offense struggle before. In 2010 he threw 22 picks and against Cleveland and Arizona our offense looked dazed and confused.

I'm sure there will be games again this year where our offense is out of sync, but those games are few and far between.

Don't let the Pat game fool you. Our starters played 2 series. We dominated their defense all week long in practice and if our starters had played the whole game we'd have dropped 40 on them easily.

I do think our O-line needs the next 3 games to gel.

I do think our defense is much improved already, and they still have 3 games to fine tune things.

Even if our offense takes a step back (which it won't) we'd still have a top 5 offense.

Budsdrinker 08-15-2012 09:21 AM

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

Not worried. Was missing alot of starters against Pats and in practice. It's finally nice to see our D hold on to the ball. Drew is probably not used to that. Also a healthy Casillias on D is a good sign. Bushrod will always stuggle with speed rushers. If it was a regular season game by the 3rd series Carmichael would have had a chip on Jones to help out Bushrod.

isnt the d suppose to be ahead of the O this time of year since the O is all about timing?

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

My analysis of the defense under spags is if that Front 7 stays healthy, you in for a surprise this year, because that defense is going to tear the NFL a new one in every game. I hate to say its 85 Bears good, but I dont think its too far off.

This has me excited this season because I am expecting the defense to really be good, their is no more of this other team scoring 20+ pts all the time this season.

Normally yes. But the defense is installing a new system and it takes time to get it together. :handguns:

Well look what he did in St Louis with their defense and he was using 3rd string CBs.

We'd be walking in high cotton if the Saints were just better than average at;
yards per rush allowed,
yards per pass attempt allowed,
and had a positive turn over ratio,

all in the same season.

Our offense is known to have sluggish weeks. Tampa, Seattle.... Hopefully next will be back to badassery as usual.

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

Not concerned at all, it's the same team, thus lots of familiarity with each other. Only natural that our defense would pick up a step or two...plus we have an actual DC this season...

Re: Anyone else a bit concerned about our offense?

The whole team could possibly suck this year.
Or we could possibly win the Super Bowl.
I like to think the O getting manhandled in practice is a product of a new
attitude from Spags, and from fresh blood / new players.

I recall how terrible we looked in preseason in 2006.
(I drove away from Shreveport, completely distraught over the
preseason loss to the Cowboys, getting torched by a rookie named Romo. )

Then came the Dome Opener.

I was at that game too. I had some loud, drunk, obnoxious boys fans (I know obnoxious boys fan is redundant) behind me heckling the whole game. I thought we'd probably finish up around 3-13 again. Remember how it poured cats and dogs.

The whole night sucked. One of my many low points as a Saints fan.

Yeah I think you're pretty right. Plus, I joked about this in another thread, but keep in mind-- Drew's wife is about to drop a baby, like, ANY MINUTE NOW. He will get his game face back on, once that all gets sorted out.
