Lofton says he will be back week one

New Orleans Saints LB Curtis Lofton says he

What pisses me off is why in the hell would you play 25 extra snaps after getting injured in a meaningless game?

Probably cause it wasn't that bad a sprain.

True. In years past this would have been ignored.

Today, its a freaking toes over the ledge panic party when someone gets dinged, and we desperately wonder why we didn't bring in a pro-bowler sitting on the couch just in case he misses a game or two.

Good news.. Hell, great news. Hawthorne should be back week one as well. They needed the reps to get used to the new scheme but they are vets and should be ready week 1.

Maybe Lofton is so excited to be with a team who has a real chance of winning another super bowl that he just doesn't want to miss a minute of playing time.

As bad as we desperately need him, if he is not 100% i would rather him sit. Playing on an ankle too early could cause it to linger the whole season. I would rather sit him and have him 100% for the Packers. At least hold him out until the Panthers game.

That's based on the assumption that he isn't 100% right now. Honestly, if you can play on this for 25 snaps you'll be 100% after 3 weeks. If he's gonna sit out, he can be on the bench until week 1. But we need him too much to wait that long for the packers or panthers. There's still a few weeks of preseason you know? It's not like week 1 is tomorrow. Plus there's rehab and medicine and training.

You worry too much.

I'm going to incorporate this metaphor into my normal speech patterns.

I seriously doubt he will be absolutely needed for the Skins game. If he's not 100% sit him, and bring him in for the Panthers game.

Not all injuries are realized at the moment they happen.

You have to know that every played down causes a little pain somewhere for every player... It takes a little while for the player to say to him self... "ok, that didn't just go away... must be something more"...

Lofton might have just thought he twisted it and could walk it off, some injuries get worse when you stop doing activities

Not saying that I know what an NFL injury is like, but 2 Seasons ago playing for the Nottingham Caesars at free safety, In training I tackled an RB in a one on one drill and landed funny on my shoulder

At that point it felt like i'd just hit a funny bone and it would wear off, after a couple more hits it felt a little worse

So I took my pads off and 15 minutes later, I could not lift the whole of my arm, turns out i did the ligaments in my shoulder in

Just saying, that injury didn't get real bad until I actually stopped for about 15 mins

It takes a lot to get an athlete to leave the field.

With how well Robert Griffin 3 and piere garcon have looked as a duo? You said yourself our offense is gonna need to need to score 75 points with how our defense has done.

We can't be the saints of last year. We have to stop putting all the pressure on drew brees and the offense(brees is already under pressure since he has to be a coach on the field). Our defense needs to catch up. By the time lofton is back for the packers or panthers, the offense we'll already be too far ahead for us to have a balance and then we look like last year(ie a defense that can get beat by alex smith). No more Brees carrying us anymore. Everyone needs to be ready for week 1. And he's quite capable of being 100% if he can play for 25 snaps then rest for 3 weeks. In a lot of situations, stop playing can actually make it WORSE.

I love the fact that he is saying he'll be ready- taped, shot up, whatever. The guy wants to be here and wants to be on the field. I'd bet he'd play this week if they let him.

Dude, I can't remember a guy coming in this excited and verbally stoked to be in New Orleans.

There are a lot of players that do not play to their potential because of the team environment they are in. This is a perfect example.
