If a couple of these lawsuits go against the NFL and it starts costing the owners serious money, rest assured Roger will be the 'fall-guy' ... just as he tried to make New Orleans the 'fall-guy' in his endeavor to end pay-for-performance in the league ... ah, sweet irony ... perhaps in the future we'll refer to it as 'Goodell-gate' or 'Roger-gate',.

I don't know guys. Those of you who have read my posts know how I feel about the kommisar, but if you think he's bad, try dealing with insurance companies. These things take your money then spend it on 1. themselves, 2. commercials and 3. figuring out how to weasel out of paying you what you've been paying your premiums for. If anything wrecks professional football, it won't be roger Stalin. We'll survive him. It'll be insurance companies.

You may be correct about the insurance companies, but ultimately the reason the league and insurance companies are winding up in court are decisions made by the league.

The league basically brought this upon themselves.

The insurance companies will protect themselves even if it comes to dropping coverage on the league. Wonder if any other insurance company would cover the league then, and what would the premiums cost...

I'm very curious as to exactly what Benson and ol' roger Dodger were talking about in their most recently publicized meeting.

Settlement?
Threats?
Watch your @$$ rog, cause things don't look so good?

I thought some sort of news would have been leaked or something, but it looks like Tom talked, rog listened, and then....nothing

I've never heard of an owner heading up to the NFL's NY office for a sit down with the Commish that's just "coffee." The mere fact that the NFL propaganda machine would not confirm the meeting existed tells me Roger got "talked to" and it was probably pretty unexpected. Benson wanted to put the man on the spot, and probably succeeded.

Goodell won't act knee jerked from the meeting so as not to show his hand (and what was discussed in the meeting), but I have a feeling we'll know soon enough.

That is an excellent point about the insurance companies, they're unscrupulous ... I'm gonna' have to give this some more thought, but in the meantime, I'm sticking with the general consensus that Goodell is to blame for everything,.

Re: Another NFL lawsuit - From their Insurance Company

Thank you Halo for saying what me and some others have been thinking. I know we are all weary of this whole fiasco but I too am sick of other fans and the media piling on us like we should just shut up and take our medicine because we got caught. This is like nothing I've ever seen in sports. It's obvious that Goodell is a power hungry individual who gets off on throwing that power around. At first everyone was against us. But with each passing day it has become apparent that RG has overstepped his bounds and more and more people are seeing that. Normally I don't care what other fans think of us or our team but I've mentioned on here before that they need to be very concerned with the power the CBA has given RG because he has shown that he will stop at nothing to lower the boom on anyone just to try and head off these lawsuits. But everyday we see where this whole thing is festering and is about to blow up in his face. At first I liked the way Goodell went after the thugs of the sport for their off field antics. But when he turned his attention to hard hitting football with the excessive fines and suspensions and now that he has total and complete power I think he was just chomping at the bits to put that power on display simply because he now has the first, second, and last word on the issue. We just happened to be the first one's who got in his way. I hope this whole thing gets so wrapped around the axle on him that he can't even begin to get it untangled. Goodell has opened up a can of worms the likes of which the sports world has never seen and I really hope it costs him his job.
