Sean Payton in Dallas?

rarely start threads...

but I heard (albeit in clicking through channels) on NFL Sirius they predicted SP would be with Dallas in 2013?

Naturally I came here when I got home but didn't see anything about it.

Anyone else hear it? Don't mean to be an alarmist or start or perpetuate rumors - i just want to know the source and validity of the source.

thanks o rama

and stay safe folks in the city.

Considering that Paytons contract runs through 2015... Not sure how there is any validity to that.

We get the championship this year while he's out bird doggin' godell's wife and then that discussion'll start rollin'.

I still do not see it.

1. Other than his children there is no driver to bring him to Dallas.
2. Going to Dallas ensures he will not get another Super Bowl ring.
3. Going to Dallas means he would leave his successful project that he built basically from just above the ground up.
4. He is not the type of Coach that would work well in a Jerry Jones environment... Not as a head coach. Parcells was a buffer when he was in Dallas.

You make some great points. I particularly love #2! I was really saying if the Saints get there without him this year, then you won't be able to turn on sports tv or radio without hearing speculation about him going there.

The only way I see him going would be if he had felt the owners had not backed him over what has happened this offseason. The owners could have tried to throw him,Williams and Loomis under the bus and probably got a softer deal from the Commissar and the press. While not ranting a f raving from what I have seen(from a few thousand miles away) they have backed them.

Payton may leave, but not till a few more titles are in the bag.

Leaving in my opinion would be an emotional decision, he does not strike me as an emotional decision maker.

If he ever left, it would be for his children, and I cant fault a man for that.

This rumor keeps popping up, in my opinion i just don't see it happening.

Pure speculation. Sean isn't going to leave his program.

Absolutely not. He loves new Orleans. He knows he is the best head coach we've ever had. And there's loyalty and respect between the players and himself moreso than you would ever find in Dallas. He ain't goin nowhere

If he ever leaves the Saints, it won't be until after Drew retires.

I think #3 is the most valid point and the reason why I wouldn't expect to see Payton in Dallas anytime soon ... he just strikes me as the kind of coach who appreciates the opportunity to turn a franchise into a winner and then likes the challenge of tweaking & tinkering with the team he's built in order to keep them on top season after season ... a lot of coaches have tried it in New Orleans, only Payton has succeeded and the Saints are 'his baby' ... like I said, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to walk away from that.

Re: Sean Payton in Dallas?

IMO, it all depends on what happens this year...some with the Saints but more importantly with Dallas. Also, he's lucky he wasn't fired already. Most ownerships would not tolerate what he and his assistants did to the organization regarding draft picks and personnel. There are guys with families who won't get paychecks for awhile.

Jerry Jones will replace Garrett if he doesn't turn it around...this year. No more chances. I am not saying Payton will opt to go there, but if Jason Garrett and the 'Boys let Eli sign their locker room one more time, heads will roll and Payton will be made some sort of offer. Whether or not he takes the offer or is in a position to take it remains to be seen.

All JMO.

Okay, you win a Superbowl, then what? You go and do what few others have; you move to a different place and do it again. Or you do what even fewer have and move to the stratosphere by building a dynasty. How many coaches have owned a decade?

If a tree falls in the forrest and no one hears it does it still make a sound. Why do people make up crap like this. If Drew is here coach will be here.

Re: Sean Payton in Dallas?

Payton and Brees are like Walsh and Montana, they will build a dynasty together. He is not going anywhere.
