What is the deal about the experts and the Falcons?

First off great website, finally glad to have joined up and get on the forum, the topics are enjoyable to read. Secondly, just left ESPN.com and it seems that all the experts are picking Atlanta to win the division and a couple pick them to go to the SB. It seems like every year at this time the experts jump on the Atlanta bandwagon. I simply don't get it especially after the Falcons disappointing end to their season last year. I could understand if they went with Carolina if they weren't going to go with us, but Atlanta? What gives?

Let us not forget that the ESPN is Goodell's "ho"

Re: What is the deal about the experts and the Falcons?

The "experts" have a vested interest in creating conflict without losing "credibility." the reason why they picked the ATL is because the bucs truly suck and the panties have no defense and few offensive weapons beyond CM Newton. If they pick the Saints, then if the Saints wind up bombing because of the off season stuff, they look foolish.

Atlanta is clearly the second best team in the division. The "experts" refuse to believe that the Saints with superior talent can overcome all they have been through. They are making the safe pick in their minds. Don't worry, they are seldom right.

The O-Line keeps the offense from looking good as does the secondary for the defense... Your 2 weaknesses are major!

Remember 15 out of 16 ESPN "experts" picked ATL in 2009. I still have the print-out. They're just guessing. The one thing we all know that they don't, is the character and the fight our players have.

Saints gonna bring it from Unda Tha Thunda!!!! Supa Bowl!!!

I know Yahoo is licking their balls pretty good.

Just about cant listen to a yahoo news article anymore.

Most people believe their offense is going to tear it up, but if you look at history in the preseason for the Falcons, when it matters in that 3rd preseason game, they struggle to score, it was no different this time and it was against Miami which is probably a 4th place team in their division.

I just dont believe anything is going to change this season on that offense, and that Defense which many believe their old D-Coordinator made them bad, I believe Nolan is going to make them slightly worse than that.

When you look at the overall picture, the Falcons will take a step back instead of a step forward like many people are thinking.

Hate to say it but I think a healthy JJ will improve their overall offensive production over last season. On the other hand I think they are jumping the gun a little bit trying to immediately switch to a pass first offense. That switch takes time and it will put a lot on Ryans shoulders. We will see how he handles it.

Re: What is the deal about the experts and the Falcons?

I like it when the experts pick against the Saints. I love it when Mike Greenberg picks against the Saints. To be fair, if you're not a Saints fan like we are, it could be easy to pick against a team that will have an interim/interim head coach for it first six games and an interim head coach for the rest of the season. Especially since neither has been a head coach before and recognizing how Payton was such a huge figure for the Saints. Then, how was the Saints offseason in regeards to the players on the field? They lost their Pro Bowl guard, #2 WR, starting CB, starting MLB, and their best DE will miss the first four games. On paper, to the outsider, the Saints lost quite a bit this offseason.

Not to mention a much tougher schedule this season.

And before that..how many years did we have to hear the Panties were the favorite to go to the SB. How well did that work out? I have a feeling the same is going to happen to ATL.

bahaha, I was just thinking that the same was said last year. Every year the Saints are getting older and will not be nearly as good, every year. And every year the Falcons have finally turned the corner.

Plus if Mike Smith jumps or runs on the sideline he hurts himself. Also, he gets red like he is about to have an aneurism. Not sure that is a weakness, but it sure is fun to watch

Every year; regardless of earth, wind, or fire..... Falcons, Cowboys.... and a few others are predicted to go to the SB....

Its just the way it is.

Same people usually call Flacco elite.

Hey Curly, good to see you over here.

I know what you mean about them all picking the falcons. It's strange. The way I figure it, with experts "picks", if they get it wrong, it's no big deal because it's just a prediction, but if they predict a 2nd place team from the year before and get it right then they think they look smart.

Yeah but if I remember right, it was after that SB appearance that they were suppose to keep going for like 4 years.

To be quite honest I think they are improved from last year. I think they will be very tough to beat, but I think with the additions we have made we can handle them. I do think they jumped the gun on switching from a run first to a pass first offense so hopefully that will hurt them.

Re: What is the deal about the experts and the Falcons?

Atlanta is the biggest market in the NFCS, so they get a lot of good press because that guarantees the most page views from this area. The falcons do have a chance at winning the division, particularly looking at their schedule, so long as they do, the major outlets will wank off the Atlanta crowd for clicks and shares. When they don't they will post articles about how they are a "sleeper" this year. That's why the 9ers and the Eagles were "sleepers" every year even when they were terrible.

Just from their play during pre season. Ryan seems to be a little better and I think a healthy JJ will help them out a bunch. They always play us tough. I still think we sweep them, but they won't just roll over for us. Never ever again say I am anything like them.
