9-7

No... that is not what we are going to go this year. its not going to be the score in this years Super Bowl...

It is the regular season record of last years Super Bowl Champions.

We did not look unskilled, terrible, or like one of the worst teams in the league. We looked flat and out of synch on offense. Defense ALWAYS (with the exception of last year) takes a game or two to get up to speed. There is no tape on this QB in the NFL... Nada... We basically had to go in with a vanilla game plan and adjust. Shanahan knew that.... Which is why he ran a game plan that set the pace at as soon as we could adjust it changed... That first 6 plays were all the same just changed sides. the next 6 were all the same but flip flopped sides.

RELAX... Settle down.... Don't loose your frikken mind thinking we cant do this with out Sean Payton... Don't blame the loss on lack of Payton... Need I remind you we lost to Tampa bay AND Seattle WITH Sean Payton...

This is not as bad as it looks. We will be fine... I would rather we peak at the end of the season anyway...

So when you feel your self panicking (I do it too)... Think 9-7 The Giants took the whole frikken pie going 9-7 in the regular season...

We ARE a lot better team that we saw on the field today. We has some beautiful tackles today and I have not seen that in years..

Move away from the light:bng:

Re: 9-7

im not losing my mind after one game, its only week one. but, how many times have we started the season badly in the 5 years, and ended the season well? none.

theres a lot of things we need corrected.

defensively, our linebackers looked like crap. granted, they're coming back from injuries. too many missed tackles by the defense as a whole. secondary wasnt too bad, but, certainly far from great. the defensive line got pressure, but, couldnt bring down the qb until the 4th. granted, not all qb's are that hard to bring down!

offensively, the offense was, for the most part, offensive. recievers had trouble getting open and had troubles bringing in the ball. we failed to utilize sproles like we did last year. what happened to utilizing him MORE this year?

and the biggest gaping hole of a problem i saw was the gaping holes we were leaving for the redskins linebackers and dt's to come after drew. the o-line was by far the worst facet of the game today.

rebound saints. get your stuff together. get ready for carolina. and rebound. cause if we dont, its gonna look a lot like it did today next week against cam.

Despite that I want to pull my hair out after setting it on fire, cussing up a storm, breaking somehting and just going crazy in general, there are 15 games remaining.

Re: 9-7

Drew had no time what so ever

Our o line got man handled

We made rg3 look like joe Montana in his first game in the NFL

we lost devery Henderson and are running short on WR's now

Is this defense going to be better? I have no idea....but I don't like how we started

Yeah the offense let us down massively today, but the defense still let a rookie QB put 40 points on us

TheOak 09-09-2012 05:06 PM

Re: 9-7

RG III was a complete unknown.... Honestly it could have gone either way.. I stated this before... He could come out feeling the weight of the NFL or pure ignorant and oblivious ... He was oblivious... It just has not set in jet. Shanahan made a game plan to exploit that...

Regardless... I am glad we do not have to see them again.

saintfan 09-09-2012 05:13 PM

Re: 9-7

I am simply frustrated that year after year we continue to field a crappy defense. Today's defensive performance was an abysmal one by any measure. No, it's not the end of the world, but that doesn't mask the fact that we suck on defense year after year. We have good players. I just don't understand.

We just let a rookie throw for 300+ yards and hang a 40 burger on us. If now isn't the time for the alarm it's sure as hell time to wind the clock. That was the worst performance I've seen in a very long time.

No excuses. No sugar-coating. No "we'll get 'em next week". Today was bad. It was really REALLY bad.

Anything is possible, but the Saints should have won this game in the dome. Hopefully it will be a wakeup call. Greer needs to be healthy.

So much for a more fundamentally sound D, no one even noticed garçon on that 90 yard TD

Look at it this way.

We no longer have the pressure of going undefeated on our shoulders.

Kinda hard to stay fundamentally sound when you have a dual threat QB like RGIII. Not excuses, I can just see the difficulty in having to worry about the screen, option, plus he can pass pretty decent too...

You left off the winless Rams.

This was definitley a game they Saints could, and should have won.

You can no more judge the rest of the season based on this loss, than you could if the Saints had won.

The problem with your post is not substance. The problem with your post is that it includes a grammatical error that even 4rth grader would know better than to make. Prior to excuse does not go A, but instead An.

The part that I find most interesting, however, is that you then remove all doubt on whether you truly are an idiot by doing it again, 3 words later.

Winner! Kinda like the "brain" which is issued to everyone but you still choose not to take it out of the bubble wrap or still not bother to know whether yours runs on diesel or unleaded. My guess is solar.

Again. Congrats, dude. You have won. And clever usage of the "lmao". That certainly solidified your point and showed all of us.

roman had him, and a redskins reciever made a good block/pick on roman.

you're seriously going to compare that game to this game? we played great that game and should've won against a great team that was playing at home; they won the super bowl the previous year.

we played horrible today and the game was never as close as the final score indicated. we were never in the game today. and it was against a rookie qb in OUR dome.

not even close.

I wouldnt blame it all on the defense
1.Greer is hurt
2.Our LB's Are Not 100% Healthy
3.We got a lot of flags that slowed momentum on offense and defense
4.Given all those factors we did ok...

But I will Say Our Coach isnt doing a good job of yelling at people for mess ups

Yes, I am comparing that game to this one. We lost by 8 points on the first game of the season. Pretty darn similar. We even gave up more points last year. We also lost to much worse teams than this one last season. We still finished up 13-3. I'm still hoping for a similar season.

Re: 9-7

the start of this season feels way closer to the start of the 07 season than it does last year.

we played great in the season opener last year against a great team.

we looked horrible today against a mediocre team.

you wanna draw comparisons to this game and the packers game because the point differential is the same? did you even watch the game today? did you even watch the opener last season?

you wanna draw comparisons to this game? why dont you start w/ the '07 season opener. thats the team we resembled today, not the team that lost to the packers last year.

Hmm, let's see...

We scored in the 30s
They scored in the 40s
We were horrible in the first half played better in the second
Held the other team to less than 4 yards/carry
Outstanding opposing quarterback play
Big turnover by Colston
Special teams touchdown
Chance to even it up on the last play of the game.

Yep totally different.

(if you didn't catch it, I was being sarcastic)

And I was at Lambeau for the opening game last season, pretty good seats too.

Same jerseys?

So you really don't want to talk football do you?

I really don't see how you can dismiss all the similarities to last season's opener. It's pretty remarkable actually. But if you'd rather just be negative because the sky is falling nobody can stop you. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
