Wow. Still love seeing that. Just doesn't seem right that he is not a Saint.

Alaska

Tracy Porter

Is anyone seeing the unbelievable game that he is having. Looks like the best corner in the league. Wtf

Re: Tracy Porter

Just caught a Td to close this game out. We should have kept him.

Srgt. Hulka 09-09-2012 10:34 PM

N/S - Tracy Porter

Just got a pick six off of Rapistburglar.

Nice Job TP!

And again and again and again TraceyPorter TraceyPorter TraceyPorter #22. I agree Alaska. I keep saying, wait, what is wrong here. Oh yea, the NFL, these things happen. He is with another team, but it feels, sounds weird.
Best to him for this year in his career. We wish him well.

He was everywhere tonight

Re: tracy porter does it again!

I am assuming we couldn't afford to keep him. I think he was hurt last year which was the reason for the down year. Him and Greer were a good tandem in 09

He looks good in his new defense, weird that G.W couldn't use him the correct way

You beat me to it.

You know, we're always saying how great Mickey Loomis is; some observations from today:

1) We seemingly had the option of signing Colston or Hicks. We went with Colston. I am not convinced at ALL that was the right call.
2) the BS with Drew's contract. I don't think Drew attending OTAs would have made a difference today but it certainly wouldn't have hurt. We wound up giving Drew what he wanted (and, in my opinion, deserved), so what the hell was the point of the delay?
3) finally, losing Porter. I don't think he's as good as he was a few years ago, but he's shown tonight he can still play at a high level and we are extremely short at corner.

I don't know. I am not an expert in personnel by any means but it seems like these were some errors that may cost us this year.

I hope Porter does great for Denver... unless they are playiing us of course. The game clenching Pick Six against Big Ben was pretty sweet.

I got to admit, I was suffering serious Player Envy watching him tonight. I really wasn't too keen on him leaving us.

He sucked for us last year.

Looked like an all-pro tonight.

I dunno but I can tell you this and what I have thought for a few seasons now in regards to who we sign and draft.

I honestly dont believe a bulk of our talent could ever make it on another team as full fledge starters or have success like they had here in New Orleans

We have seen a couple exceptions like Tracy Porter, but we knew he was decent here in New Orleans.

But we have seen talent go..................BZZZZZZZZZZIP the moment they left, plenty of it in the Sean Payton era.

The only guys on this team that could ever start on another team is very minimal.

Its basically the system we got in place that allows this team to succeed to the extent it does, or has. I fear the day and seasons when that ugly head rears up to where you see exactly what that talent really is in the shadows. Today I think we have seen it.

Re: tracy porter does it again!

Since '09 Porter played worse than Robinson and Greer and got paid more. In the same situation, I would probably have let him leave too. Its good he has his swagger back, but I don't regret the decision to go in another direction.

Re: tracy porter does it again!

I wasn't sad to see him go because he did suck like Danno said, and he was worse at tackling than Robinson and Jenkins combined - maybe he was hurt and/or the nickel just didn't suit him, but bottom line is that he sucked.

A new team, a new scheme, and a new beginning might've been just what he needed... Still, it's only one game, so I wouldn't yet call him the best DB in the league based on that. Nevertheless, I hope him all the best.

If Robinson is able to take the step to elevate his game to the next level he'll more than make up for Porter, and Patrick and White will provide some nice depth for nickel and dime formations.

Maybe the change he needed. But it did seem weird to see with wearing different colors.

So true Danno.
How many times have we said this before anyway about players that leave. It's a long season, we'll see how he does overall for them through 16 games. Nobody was crying when we let him go.

To be honest, there were some on these boards who would've wanted to keep him around very much - just can't remember who exactly were of that opinion.

I was one. But I recognize it's a business and you can't have everything. I was sure he'd look better when he got healthy again, which is indeed what seems to have happened in Denver. People will say his neck injury was not serious, but that kind of thing can slow you down psychologically -- it can take a while after something like that to convince yourself that your body really is 100% back.

Re: tracy porter does it again!

Porter made the defensive coordinator move him to nickle because of his performance. When we let him leave he was making more money than plays.
