this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Are you happy with the job that our college scouting has done? Yes, we find late round gems. But how about finding an impact player early in the draft? Who do you like from our drafts and who are you ...

Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

I'll start..............I don't like Jenkins. But, I do like Jordan, however a first round draft pick should be able to start every down. Jenkins can't tackle and he takes horrible angles. That and we had to move him from corner to safety because he was ineffective. That move didn't help.
What have you got?

Re: Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

Jenkins has not been looking great, its true. But, to be fair, he has done some moving, positionally, and he has had to learn some new schemes. I feel a little bit the same about Sed, but with a lot less patience at this point.

P Rob has been good, hell he took Porter's job. And Cameron Jordan had some beast moments yesterday, he's getting bigger and better by the day. Ingram can be a bit hit-or-miss, but I also feel like part of his deal is trying to go inbetween tackles to a gap that's not there.

Will Smith is still on the team, that speaks for itself, but Jammal WAS a disappointment after a while.

And I would say that while Meachem wasn't a superstar, he did some good things while he was here (and healthy). And I don't think anybody wants to hear anything about Reggie, so think of him what you will.

That's what I got. Anybody else?

Re: Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

I like Cameron Jordan, he gets better every game and in my eyes was the only positive player in the skins game

Robinson i never really know, he wows you with plays when he blows up bubble screen blocks and drills the WR to the floor, then looks lost on the very next play
I believe he can get better and will do, CB is very difficult, your on your own every play, we change schemes all the time so give it a couple games, I hope he gets some picks

Not a fan of Jenkins at this moment in time, I want to convince myself its the scheme changing constantly, I saw huge strides in 2010 and since then major drop off. I'll only be happy with Jenkins when he starts getting picks and playing like a safety

Ingram - I wanted Jason Pierre Paul with this pick in all fairness and I would have loved if we got him because JPP literally runs the giants pass rush now and is a force.
Ingram looks to me like a back that needs 10 carries before they get into a rhythm (bush) and that's not our offense, I hope he starts getting into a groove, gets a couple long runs, but from what I've "heard" running back is one of the easiest positions to learn in the NFL and I hope I see the improvement soon

Re: Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

Robinson should've been more aware of the fact that he had no safety help on that one big passing play where he tried to brake up the pass and in the process allowed the receiver to make the catch and to run for several yards.

That just aggravates me, it was 2nd and 15 or something like that, and if Robinson would've allowed the catch to happen, but taken the receiver down immediately - it would've been 3rd down and 4 or something like that.

He just has to be more aware of the situation they are in and the coverage they are in at the moment.

But if he had made that interception or defended that pass, we would all be praising his name. I gotta give it to him on being aggressive and trying to make something happen...

With his track-record of making explosive plays... I would've liked him to play that thing safe instead of trying to make a huge play, because lets face it, the odds were stacked against him making a huge play.

I'm not against players making risky plays, but as a corner, you have to be aware of whether or not you have safety help or not, because that should determine how risky the play will actually be and whether one should try to make it.

I agree with your overall point but can someone take in all that information and make that decision in the split second that a pass is thrown, I don't believe so.

you play on your instincts not by thinking too much

Re: Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

I believe we could have gotten P Roberson in the later rounds. Mark Ingram just haven't showed me enough for a first round pick and Cameron is showing signs of improvement

Re: Are You Happy With Our Draft Picks?

I tried to optimistic about Mark Ingram because it was his rookie year but...I dont see any improvements he runs like he is blind...P-Rob he's good player he just needs to be more consistent...Malcolm Jenkins is starting to look like a bust....Cameron Jordan and P-rob are the only players I see progression from
