Is the Player meeting OFF NOW based on these statements?
The NFL denied the ruling of the CBA Appeals Panel overturned suspensions for the four players suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell and said Goodell was asked only to clarify earlier rulings.
"In light of some confusion surrounding the ruling of the CBA Appeals Panel, it is important to understand what the panel did and did not rule. The panel did not overturn the suspensions and did not say Commissioner Goodell overstepped his authority," "The panel's decision asks no more than that the commissioner clarify his earlier rulings to ensure -- and to clearly state -- that no part of the prior ruling was attributable to matters within Professor Burbank's authority (salary cap violations). It does not require the commissioner to take additional evidence or to "reweigh" the evidence currently in the record. The panel did not take issue with any findings that were made in the course of the investigation, did not exonerate anyone involved, and did not say that the commissioner "overstepped his authority." " NFL: Appeals Panel merely put suspension 'on hold' - Yahoo! Sports NFL asserts Goodell has 'full authority to impose discipline on the players' - Yahoo! Sports Appears "The League" is going to be stubborn and may drown if it rains... If this is the case there is no reason for th eplayers to meet with Der Kommisar. The statements released by the league could be viewed as any additional information WILL NOT be considered and the suspensions will just be reinstated by Der Kommisar. They may just sit back and take their chances with the Judge on the matter...

Regardless of how the NFL spins the verbiage. The panel made it clear....
Roger your house is not in order and the players can now play until it is. |

This whole thing is even worse for the team than if they would have just served their suspensions. Pulling Smith in and out like they are probably going to do is going to **** up how we practice and cause someone to miss reps. I bet you when they do uphold the suspensions it will be in the middle of the week when Smith has already been penciled in as a starter and practiced that way. Coach already said that screwed them up for the Washington game.

I stated that when the ruling was released last Friday...
I would serve the suspension and worry about clearing my name after. Besides if the suspension is served and the league is found to be wrong by a judge there is a payday for lost wages, mental anguish... etc... |
