Game thoughts....Why it will be a long season
 

Once again the same thing I said after last week our poor defense is still poor, but the biggest problem this season is the O Line. Drew is not having a chance to settle in and it is taking him out of his game. The worst part of it is something we caught a glimpse of, the fact that this pressure and hurries and contact will eventually catch up to Drew and I fear an injury.

Even with an average D we have been able to out score opponets, the biggest change this year is QB protection.

The down-side of a player holding out because of contract negotiations and not being in TC to get acclimated to new players!

Why it won't...
Because there are no more Cam Newtons or RG3 spread QB's with blazing speed on our schedule.

We knew our D needed time to adjust to a new system

We'll get Greer, Patrick and Henderson back soon.

Why you may be right...
Our O-line looks much worse than simply losing Nicks. Something else is F'd up there. Strief and Bushrod look much worse than years past.

Luckily we'll probably have a high draft pick next year and can replace Bushrod... Or a linebacker... Or a CB... Or a safety... We're a mess!

We don't need a high draft pick to do that. And we don't need a CB or a safety. We need OT/DE/DT/OLB's.

Hmm, interesting...defense and O-line suck. The same exact two areas where we have specialty coaches either suspended, or assistant coaches who are covering for other suspended coaches and assistant coaches who are suspended. Beats me why that would happen like that. I think that getting those assistant coaches back might do more help in the short term, this season. I think we need an OT very badly, but we won a Super Bowl with the weak and raggedy OT's we have now, went 13-3 with the raggedy OT's we have now. More urgently we need our O-line coach back to coaching the O-line full-time more than anything, which happens week 7.

I was thinking the same thing about the mobile QB's. We do have Vick, but we seem to have had success with him in the past. Good post. Something to finally make me feel better. Did you see any breakdown coming from Nicks old spot?

Look. You guys can flame me if you want. Our O-line looked a little less stout in preseason this year, but not THAT bad like it did today.They basically threw Grubbs in there with not much coaching or getting him into the scheme. Its coaching and the lack of Kromer that's killing us, IMO

Vick is no where near as cerebral as RGIII or Cam. And his wheels dont move as well as they used to.

Spags defense still needs time to solidify. No prob, its a long season and there's plenty more division games.

Without a doubt Kromer's absence is being felt from the perspective of the O-line and them giving Drew more time to find the open guy.

I like that we stuck with the run longer today, and PT 9 for 110 yds is ridiculous. Ingram had a couple moments, and had Jimmy caught that TD that hit him in the chest, maybe its a little different.

Hey, at least no fumbles, right?

After two games we have close to a thousand yards of offense and are averaging 30 points a game.

I seriously thought at the end of last season it was time to scrap the team and start rebuilding.

I know its not the popular way of thinking but...

Bree's isn't getting any younger and we have some serious issues on our D. Start rebuilding from the ground up.

Just need to get the defense to make any kind of stop period, and that will be a huge improvement. I would think we have to be last in the league in number of times that teams punt against us, right now.

Patrick Robinson makes either of those picks from the first two games and we're talking about different endings. His time is coming, and it seems to be the scheme that is allowing him to have more freedom.

I saw two sure TD passes dropped: one by Graham, the other (I think) by Moore.

If we had paid Drew 90 million, would those passes have been caught?
