Have we forgotten? Monday... Vilma Day!

Not sure what time the meeting is.. I am surfing for info.

Re: Have we forgotten? Monday... Vilma Day!

The only thing we may hear is a press release from Vilma or the press depending if he walks out or not.

Any information that comes out regarding the meeting may just be another PR release from the league:

"NEW Evidence Released on Saints BountyGate".

Im sorry but I am to the point, I just don't care anymore. We have gotten hosed by the almighty. The longer this goes on, the more of a distraction this is going to be. We can't afford any distractions right now.

Great article on Vilma by Dan Le Batard that Adam Schefter just shared via Twitter:

Anything Vilma says will be used against him (and possibly contorted to fit a predetermined narrative), so he’s better off saying nothing until he knows more about the evidence of guilt that the league has developed.

According to Ed Werder on Twitter: "Jonathan Vilma meeting lasts 3 hours and he emerged in positive frame of mind, saying some discrepancies were reconciled #saints"

Re: Have we forgotten? Monday... Vilma Day!

Vilma and his lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, said they expect to hear something possibly this week or next week. Vilma wouldn't say if a compromise was discussed during the meeting. He did say that both sides spoke candidly and that the meeting was in everyone's best interest.

Ginsberg said Vilma said everything he wanted to say, was thorough and did most of the talking during the meeting.

Ginsberg said Vilma was 100 percent truthful and that this was easily the most productive day of the whole Vilma situation.

apparently Goodell gave Vilma a sworn affidavit from GW that indicates Vilma did offer $10,000 to anyone who knocked out Favre...

In Monday's meeting, the NFL gave Vilma a sworn affidavit from former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that the New Orleans linebacker offered $10,000 to any teammate who knocked quarterback Brett Favre out of the January 2010 NFC Championship Game, a source with knowledge of the meeting told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

In the same affidavit, Williams confirmed the Saints had a pay-for-performance pool funded by the Saints players, the source said.

I knew it....... Been saying GW turned and will give Goodell what ever he wants, factual or not, to have a career again.

Williams, according to the source, said he knew the pool violated league rules, but they never had the intent to injure or commit any on-field misconduct, they never rewarded any conduct that the refs flagged as a penalty, and any penalized conduct
This constitutes nothing more than salary cap violations; right?

Conduct detrimental. Something which Goodell can suspend him anywhere between 1 hour and 1,400 light years depending on his mood that day.

Goodell has to prove or suspect there was intent to injure. Curious that Vilma's reaction was upbeat. They may have evidence that controverts Williams statement. Interesting.

Remember, Gregg Williams statement is now saying that Vilma offered 10 thousand dollars to any linebacker who knocked out Brett Favre, not that Vilma accepted money to knock out Favre....

I was thinking:

Pay for Performance = salary cap violation

Pay to Injure = suspensions reinstated

I may be way off base though

Those items may require proof of intent or action.

Conduct detrimental - well that could be a fart on national TV.

Essentially Goodell called in Gregg Williams who pinned all this on Vilma. Sworn testimony is different than a prepared, signed "statement" so Goodell needed more assurances himself.

Goodell has an out. If Vilma's fellow linebackers give testimony that counters Gregg Williams testimony and Vilma can prove 10k never left his account, it could make Williams look like he lied under oath. Goodell can turn it back on Williams, that he went to war on faulty evidence.

Consider Williams may have sold his soul for the chance to ever return to coaching in the NFL... he may have said ANYTHING.

I'm thinking the plot thickens.

I'm thinking a good lawyer can make Williams look like a needy crackhead on the stand.

How about a sworn affidavit that he actually paid someone 10k for a Farve hit?

Re: Have we forgotten? Monday... Vilma Day!

Good thread on Tiger Droppings Saints Talk about this. It's like 11 million freaking pages long, but has all sides of the equation and lots of good information, both sides argued, for and against.

It's not an affidavit Gregg Williams submitted, it's a "declaration," which is slightly different. For a declaration one affirms or gives an oath swearing that the statement is true, but it is not done while actually under oath, sworn in in front of a real court person -- and it leaves a bit of wiggle room for what you understand or believe to be the truth, at the time of the statement. Declarations have slightly less legal weight than affidavits but they're kind of interchangeable. Subtle difference between them.

I didn't see it posted here in the thread but the actual whole declaration from Gregg Williams is here:
