Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

It is the OFFENSES job to SCORE POINTS!!

It is the DEFENSES job to STOP THE OTHER TEAM FROM SCORING POINTS!!

Week One the final score was 40-32 Redskins

Week Two the final score was 35-27

Based on the first 2 games which side of the ball is doing its job?

Maybe it's Tebow. Maybe he sucks so bad he makes teams he's not even playing on do bad.

Id rather have Tebow than Brees. He throws less interceptions.

If you want Tebow, jump off the wagon... Maybe it's not too late to hitch a ride with the J-E-T-S fans.

"I'd rather have Brees than Tebow....."

Fixed it for ya. :)

Yeah no you wouldn't. It's really hard for Tebow to throw INT when he's not even the starting QB.

2011 stats

Brees 14 INT

Tebow 9 INT

Tebow missed 4 games and Brees was there the whole season.

You make no sense.

Dude, I'm gonna chalk this one up to sarcasm being lost via the internets and leave it at that.

Good day.

I would argue that we've scored 28 of those offensive points during garbage
time. We knew defense would suck, and that our Offense HAS to control the game, and SHOULD. I have 100 Million reasons for thinking this.

He would have to "throw".

If you hand off to the defense is that an interception? Intervention?

It's not a fumble.

Watching the games, our offense looks passable (compared to record-shattering unstoppable), and our defense looks like the worst in the league.

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

People who blame brees are NOT bandwagon fans, the last time I checked this is a team game, the whole team is to blame which includes brees

He may not be the cause of the losses, but he hasn't been his normal self in our offense

Bandwagon fan indicates you only show up when the team is doing good, the fact we all show up and support on Sundays and then write on this board proves who is and who isn't a bandwagon fan

Correct .... Not bandwagon

People who blame 1 person are those who "typically" have not spent a whole lot of time playing team sports.

Note: Just because there is a team, doesn't make it a team sport. In Baseball a pitcher can pitch a no hitter and hit a home run in his last at bat and win the whole thing by him self. There is no such scenario in American football.

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

So now that we have a "legit" definition of what a bandwagon fan is who here is blaming one person?

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

I am certainly not a bandwagon fan, but I blame defense. Offense, as off as they have been, have still scored enough points to win most games. If it's going to take 40 points to win a game, we are in trouble.

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

Only reason I haven't commented on this team's play the first 2 weeks is because I haven't been able to watch the games and have to go off of highlights to see what happened. Everyone knows highlights don't tell the whole story

While the defense has been terrible, they can't be blame for all the points they've given up. Turnovers have put them in some tough spots including a pick 6 that's not on them.

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

The whole "bandwagon" concept is stupid. I know people who were at the first Saints game in 1967 who are actually lousy fans, and I know people who got into the team post-Katrina who are even more diehard, sleep-in-their-jersey rabid than I am. It annoys me that people always throw "bandwagon" around whenever things aren't going well. There are old veteran fans who are not into how the Saints are playing right now, there are new fans who are not into how the Saints are playing, and everything in between. "Bandwagon" has nothing to do with anything right now.

DREW all the way for me! He's doing the best he can and always gives 100%

Yes he's made a few mistakes but so have his receivers when they have dropped very catchable passes.

Lets see what happens in the Dome this Sunday before everyone goes into panic mode!

I have to admit though that it does hurt to see the Falcons 2-0 at the top of the division and the Saints 0-2 at the bottom of the division. :-(

Anyway, you should all know by now that its never easy being a Saints fan, its always a roller coaster ride of ups and downs! . . . . . . . but it is great fun!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!! :-)

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

I'll be the first to praise when you're on, and ask WTF when you're off.

Simply put: Drew is off

From where I sit:

1) He's getting a lot of passes batted at the line. Perhaps he's not seeing his throwing lanes like last year, but his ability to sight and release appears slower

2) He's forcing plays where there is none. Shovel passes where you're in trouble 3 or more times a game (a la Brett Favre) is not what he does best. And half of his pics so far were throws into double coverage.

3) He's holding onto the ball too long looking deep (or for Jimmy). He's not slipping the inital rush to buy that extra 2 seconds for some unknown reason either and its getting him into pressure trouble. Whatever happened to Moore doing quick slants for 5 yds? When all else fails, small ball moves the chains. And someone needs to let him know that it's OK to tuck and run the ball for 12 yds every once in a while.

4) He appears to lack confidence in his timing patterns this year, unlike previous seasons. His knack for releasing the ball with vision knowing his receiver was going to be there made him LETHAL since he's been on the team. Not seeing it this year.

The D does not in any way get a mulligan on their play thus far, but either of those games is won without turning the ball over in key situations.

Also, on a side note: RUN THE DAMN BALL!!!!!

1. That is a function of the offensive line.. I have seen many of those batted balls and it is not because Drew is humming it by ear level, it is because the o-lineman has three feet between he and the defender, allowing the defender to keep an eye on Drew and jump.

2. This is a function of our defense not being able to make anyone punt.

3. Receivers are getting tied up and not getting separation.

4. His timing is off... He cant throw to where the receivers are supposed to be because they are not there (hardly a drew item). He lacks focus and confidence because our o-line is a turn style.

Re: Question for the Bandwagon Fans & Brees Blamers!

I keep hearing a lot about how many points our O is putting up, versus how poorly our D is playing. Granted, our D is playing awful, but if you think our O isn't to blame, you are nuts. How many sustained drives have we had versus 3 and outs? What's our 3rd down percentage? How many offensive turnovers have we had? Our Offense has not done much to help our Defense out. We all knew there would be growing pains w/ the Spags Defense. I don't think anyone expected the Offense to look as bad as it does. Brees is the leader of our Offense, especially w/o SP, so I think it's natural for folks to look at Brees when trying to pinpoint the "problem".

And another thing, some people are "glass half full", some people are "the sky is falling", some are a combination of both. Either way, doesn't mean you are a bandwagon fan. Just because you are optimistic, doesn't mean you are a real fan, either...

Team Stats:
Completion %: Saints .54 / Opponents .71 (we are letting them look like stars)
1st downs: Saints 51/ Opponents 45
3rd down%: Saints .38 / Oponents .37
4th down Conversions: Saints .66 / Opponents .50
Turn Over ratio: -4 but I dont count hailmarys at the end of the game.
Rushing: Saints 195 yards / Opponents 372 yards
Passing: Saints 649 yards ave 6.6 YPC / Opponents 550 yards ave 12.5 YPC (our d-backs and letting them kill us with long balls.)
Punting: Saints 8 / Opponents 4
Time of Possession: Saints 25:37 / Opponents 34.23 (Our Defense keeps their offense on the field way too long)

Call me nuts but those numbers put 90% on the Defense.

My point is, it's not all on the Defense. I said in my original post, the D is awful, but the Offense is stinking it up too. O-line, receivers, Drew, pretty much everyone except PT23 looks nothing like the past few years.
