Goodell showed vilma a piece of paper with his signature on it stating a $10,000 dollar reward for the bounty on Favre. If that's the case I'm glad he's suspended and deserves to be suspended. What a POS!

Adam Schefter‏@AdamSchefter

The sworn affidavit from former Saints DC Gregg Williams that the NFL presented today to Jonathan Vilma was signed Friday, Sept 14, 2012.

Signed Friday, Sept 14, 2012....there seems to be a couple of RATS in the house!

TheOak 09-17-2012 05:56 PM

Stay in Tibet you fat bastard. If Greg Williams goes to Indo China......

Signed by our POS ex-defensive coordinator a few days ago? The same one who cannot coach again until the mood strikes Roger? Seems a very week effort to get evidence after the suspension.

If that is the case of a statement made on 09/14 a Goodell looks like a Jackass. He basically provided a statement to cover himself - true or not.

I statement like that is questionable based on the date not alone the source.

Judge Berrigan will be very interested in what Rog has found after the suspensions.

And we were all wondering what the price of re-admission into the nfl coaching ranks again was going to be. Looks like this is what it was for GW.

saintfan 09-17-2012 07:29 PM

Re: NFL say Williams confirms Vilma put bounty on Farve

Signed 3 days ago? Please. GW will do whatever Roger wants. He'd probably give him a blow if that's what it takes.

And this could not have been used originally? That makes it essentially irrelevant. I'm stupid. I must be missing something important.

Okay, now I'm convinced. Hahahahahahaha! The NFL's upper management's moving to the Comedy Channel any minute now...

I agree with that, but the fact remains it really appears to be "evidence" to prove a perspective rather than to determine the truth.

If that information was available prior to ANY suspension being handed out why would there be a date on 09/14/2012 on any document.

Evidently the league may not have completed a thorough investigation or a statement like the one provided would have been part of the initial information given to the players.

This appearance of "NEW" evidence after the public statements made by Der Kommisar may be introduced into court and accepted by Judge Berrigan, but I for one question the document.

Until Williams takes the stand in the court I would question any released statement released by the league supposedly coming from him. There has been enough talk about the league "silencing" the coaches.

Bergman is going to torch the league and throw out everything. Watch....

She already alluded to an unfair process by Goddell and te players being punished before the investigation was
Done.

At this point what does it matter, Vilma is no help to the Saints. IMO its a distraction they just don't need right now, he's injured and can't play anyway and I don't know how much good he would be anyway.
I wish this whole ugly thing would just go away

Wishing will not make it go away. It has to run its course.

I actually think the defense could use Vilmas leadership right now.

It absolutely DOES matter - and for reasons far greater than what happens on a football field. There are principalities involved!

also remember Vitt & others signed a sworn affidavit stating that Vilma had not done anything like that. Therefore the issue is still not resoved.
Gregg Williams has left us with a mess.

ESPN said at halftime, Vilma had 9 affidavits in his favor... Bet they weren't signed 3 days ago

This was the reason why the NFL left the way they did.Williams either backs them up or never coaches again.
His career is over anyway,no player/Coach/front office will trust him again

Sooooo Vilma was suspended two months ago for evidence obtained three days ago? Hmmmmm.... Nice move Roger. That's gonna stand up in court every time. You dumb f***!

i wouldnt be shocked to hear there was a bounty on favre that game. i specifically remember a few late hits, including one out of bounds on favre. i also remember the next day after the nfc championship game thinking, "damn, we played dirty as hell!" i even brought it up to people at work. only i wasnt condemning the bad play, i was lauding it! i was happy we played dirty.

just sucks we got caught.

Re: NFL say Williams confirms Vilma put bounty on Farve

If Vilma really did put a bounty on Favre, I dunno.

But it dont surprise me we going back 3 years to the Favre game because I think thats what started all this **** to begin with.

But if you were to put this in court, that piece of evidence would be thrown out based off the fact of the date it was signed, Williams being suspended until further notice, the fact this was bought up after the hearing.

It holds no water and really it becomes weak as far the smoking gun.

Re: NFL say Williams confirms Vilma put bounty on Farve

Williams signed the paper. He will take the stand and testify against Vilma. Everyone wanted to know the source. Now you have it. Like it or not, agree with it or not, it's extremely doubtful Vilma will win his case now. The only thing for sure is it will continue to be a story and a distraction for the team. Not good.

lee909 09-18-2012 06:35 AM

Agree with that.He will struggle to win this IMO.
It's distracting the team and needs sorted one way or the other soon.Whats annoying me is that Smith should be halfway through his suspension and all the players baring Vilma would have been ready to go when Vitt returns, now it's likely that when he returns the suspensions will be ongoing.

Re: NFL say Williams confirms Vilma put bounty on Farve

So if I'm reading this correctly, the NFL suspends Vilma in March and then the evidence is an affidavit from September? Folks, that's straight out of Kafka or George Orwell. I mean you have to roll forward with whatever hand life deals you, but that is really bizarre.

Nothing dirty about that game. That is football and if you don't believe me go back and watch videos of all the greats that have played the game. Football is a violent game not pattycakes. Nighttrain Lane use to closeline people when he tackled them. Favre was just the NFL darling and everyone in the NFL wanted him to win one more Super Bowl.

I don't understand how one affadavit (sp?) signed by Williams saying Vilma DID do this out weighs the nine others saying he DIDN'T.

How is one more weighty than the other?

Selective evidence. Only gather what you want to help your own opinion.

It matters because it may just enable Payton and Vitt to make a case for reinstatement this season.

To me this matters a lot more than an out-of-shape Vilma

Longshot, I know. But we're dead in the water without Payton, as much as I would've argued that point before the season started, its pretty doggone hard to argue now
