“I take great responsibility in the fact that people feel that way. I know the things I need to work on. I know the things I need to improve on. Certainly, my productivity at the quarterback position, but also as a leader and someone guys look to for guidance and leadership, respect– and I certainly embrace that role.”

“I’m always going to look at the thing with a very critical eye,” exclaimed Brees. “I’m not going to change my mentality, my aggressiveness, my approach, my preparation, but I do understand how important it is to take care of the football.”

I agree.
--you put the pressure on yourself by demanding astronomical money
--you screwed the O, by not showing up to practice.
--you jacked up player salaries for the future, thereby jeopardizing the
long term ability of real fans to afford tickets.
--For 100 million dollars you need to score every time you touch the ball.

Im actually a big fan, and even an apologist, but I want everyone else
in the football world, outside of us homers, to like Drew as much as we do.
And he's making it difficult for us to sell.

Help me to understand why I am wrong.

Because Brees and the Saints aren't winning! If the Saints were 2-0 and had scored 56 points each game, and the defense was holding teams to 10 points, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It's absurd to blame it all on any one guy, but I'd certainly like to see a little better outta Drew than the Carolina game. Don't get me wrong, I love to see a bit of "gunslinger" in my QB, but not when it degenerates into desperate sloppiness. The O-line didn't protect well, targets had the dropsies, therefore Drew didn't get going either.

Very true, but thats not the way its gone down

we are 0-2 and have allowed 75 points, while the offense has been underwhelming, nothing like we are used to

We gotta point to something, and drew with his holdout and his "team friendly deal" as he calls it, is the most likely cause
