Not everything is postive. Here's the good, bad, and the ugl

Here's a recap on what SportsWrap had to say about the first few days of training camp.

Aaron Brooks was throwing some ugly long passes that wide open receivers were having to stop and wait for the ball.

Cie Grant looked lost at times and then they reported later on that Cie hyper-extended his knee. No report on how long he'll be out.

Courtney Watson has a pulled quad.

Talman Gardner dropped way too many passes.

Boo Williams horse-plays too much during practice and tries to get other players to join him. Tried to get Deuce to join him but Deuce just ignored him and went about his business. Said every time Boo catches a pass, he pulls a Deion Sanders. They think he might be reading his own press clippings.

Said they haven't seen a "tougher" Haslett in practice. But, don't know what goes on behind closed doors.

Jon Stichcomb got used and abused by Will Smith. Stichcomb will never be a left tackle. Or right tackle for that matter. Might make a good guard.

Ashley Ambrose looks terrible out there. It's obvious he's lost more than a step.

Jason Craft looks like the best CB on the team. Even better than Freddy Thomas. Look for Craft to be the starter on game day.

Tebucky Jones looks MUCH improved. Not only is he there to make the play but he's not leading in head first trying to make the kill shot, he's wrapping up with his arms.

Howard Green looks dominant. Said this guy just shows up this year in shape and it's obvious he's got some talent. They said Nick Saban told Haslett if Green could get his weight down he would be a good player. Saban also said that when the Saints drafted Sullivan he thought Sullivan could be a good player if he kept his weight under control and if he matured quickly. Hmmm...... seems Sully couldn't do either one.

Mel Mitchell is 100%. No word on how he looked.

Wide receiver coach Jimmy Robinson is making a big difference. Said he's really placing an emphasis on the receivers substaining their blocks longer.

John Pease brings a more stuctured practice to the D-line. He gets down in the trenches and is really working these guys.

The intensity is higher this year for the defense. They are a lot more physical.

That's all I can remember. If I think of anything else, I'll post it later.

Peace!!!

Great post. Not that I like to hear bad things out of camp but a good dose of reality is healthy.

Its kinda aggrivating to hear constant updates about every practice, and an expert analysis of a players future based on the first week of training camp.
Many players are also working on stuff. A D-lineman may be trying to work on a swim move and looks as if he\'s getting abused, but he may be working on that one aspect to add to his arsenal. Its silly to judge a players potential based on one week of TC.

Aaron Brooks was throwing some ugly long passes that wide open receivers were having to stop and wait for the ball.
Maybe they were working on the underthrow jump-ball!
Maybe the WR ran the wrong route
maybe Brooks doesn\'t have his timing down yet

Cie Grant looked lost at times and then they reported later on that Cie hyper-extended his knee. No report on how long he\'ll be out.
I read just yesterday that he looked great, good reads and quick reactions.

Talman Gardner dropped way too many passes.
I read just yesterday he was catching everything in sight.

Jon Stichcomb got used and abused by Will Smith. Stichcomb will never be a left tackle. Or right tackle for that matter. Might make a good guard.
I read a couple days ago that Stinch looked awesome and was eating Wills lunch. He looked MUCH improved over last year.

Ashley Ambrose looks terrible out there. It\'s obvious he\'s lost more than a step.
I don\'t think I\'ve heard one single report that doesn\'t contradict this. He may be falling and falling fast.

Jason Craft looks like the best CB on the team. Even better than Freddy Thomas. Look for Craft to be the starter on game day.
Other than his less than spectacular mini-camps that the moonshiners were crying about I keep hearing how great this guy looks.

Tebucky Jones looks MUCH improved. Not only is he there to make the play but he\'s not leading in head first trying to make the kill shot, he\'s wrapping up with his arms.
SWEET!

Howard Green looks dominant. Said this guy just shows up this year in shape and it\'s obvious he\'s got some talent. Keep hearing this also. Apparently nobody told Howard he was supposed to make the practice squad.

Mel Mitchell is 100%. No word on how he looked.
????????? How do they know he\'s 100% if ther\'s no word on how he looked.

John Pease brings a more stuctured practice to the D-line. He gets down in the trenches and is really working these guys.
Could be our best acquisition in years.

I\'ll go ahead and predict the whiner-line...
\"Yea so what, we heard it all before. I don\'t mean squat until they show me something.\"

Hey, Danno. I agree with you. But, I gave up a long time ago trying to explain stuff like that. I just post the stuff and let the speculation begin. :P

We needed something to talk about anyway. Seems the moonshiners have been taking a break.

I should clarify some things:

1. Mel Mitchell, they said he looked good coming in and out of his cuts. Shows no ill effects from the knee injury. They didn\'t say anything else about him.

2. Cie Grant, they said he looked lost and confused at times during the first day but looked better after that.

3. Talman Gardner, they really dogged this guy. One thing about the guys on SportsWrap, they DO NOT have an agenda. Very balanced reporting.

4. Jon Stinchcomb: They said he doesn\'t have quick enough feet to handle the speed rushers. Said it takes a special guy to play left tackle and they don\'t see it with him.

One other thing. They said the cornerbacks were really mugging the receivers. Something they won\'t be able to do in the real games without gettting a penalty called. So, don\'t get too high on how our CB\'s look just yet. The Saints are planning on bringing in some refs to make sure they know how the \"new\" rule is going to be officiated.

Hope that cleared some of the confusion up.

Good things heard all around about Craft, Green and Jones. Players we were\'nt really talking much about before training camp.

Looks like some of the players are getting the message.

Thanks for the post.

No kidding. And the first complete week has even concluded yet.

I would be hard pressed to believe that AB can no longer throw the long ball and catch the receivers in stride like he\'s done the past 4 years.
The Stinch brothers have never had any prior problems with footwork, it\'s always been about strength. It does take a special person to play left tackle, and Stinch may not be that guy, but it won\'t be because of his footwork.
Craft may look good, but until he does it in a regular season game (that one\'s for you, Danno), Thomas is still the best CB on this team.
If Ambrose has indeed lost a step, perhaps it\'s time to start looking at him in a reserve safety roll. He still has his football knowledge, which does not go away. Mitchell\'s health still makes me curious, and I don\'t like our depth at that position.

The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know...
Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed
