Why aren't we running the ball?

We have some great running backs, and even with a lead in the 3rd quarter we continue to throw the ball with suspect pass protection...why haven't we started to pound the rock?

Re: Why aren't we running the ball?

Because our Running Game Coordinator hasn't had time to Running Game Coordinate since he has been too busy being Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach and Water Boy, and whoever else Goodell suspended that we couldn't hire new people for.

Because our O line cannot block and create holes for our backs to run through.

We're averaging over 5 yards a carry on the year. Our line doesn't have any issue run blocking... we just have no identity and idea what we want to do from week to week.

If we actually wanted to start running the ball we should've kept Bush and actually used him like he was supposed to be used.

We still could've signed Sproles to have 2 playmakers on the team. But we are mainly a passing team, and that's the offense we run. We have a cerebral QB in Drew Brees, and once he gets his **** together we will be successful.

Today's game was a nice start for Brees, we ran more than usual today, and mostly only because we were up so much. And do you see what happens when we let up on the gas peddle? It bites us in the ass because we relied on a suspect defense to seal the game for us instead of putting it into Brees' hands like it's supposed to be.

The moment when we let up on the gas pedal was down to brees and the offense

24-6, 2nd down and 9, dumbass throw to Henderson gets picked
Chiefs score 3
Then we go 3 and out straight away
91 yard run by Charles

The defense stopped the chiefs 3 times in the first quarter alone, we scored once in 3 of those attempts, punted the rest

WTF? Dude- in the 2nd half we had 7 possessions and 5 of them we ran on first down.

What is up with Mark Ingram? Is it just me or is he a bust?

He's a bust.... trade him for a few defensive players and a bucket of chicken, while folks still think he's worth it.

And then we go shotgun on our 9 yard line and give up a safety

What about running on again on 2nd down and trying to get more manageable 3rd downs instead of getting sacked for a safety or getting intercepted because you force a long throw to a covered man? Just cuz you run on first down don't mean you're sticking to the running game your just teasing the running game game and not letting them get a rhythm. PT is has produced on every carry pretty much but he gets one touch a possession then tossed to the side like a illegitimate child a parent is trying to appease so the one that you adore (Brees) can play the hero.

Is Ingram hurt? Really thought he was gonna do something in the NFL. He might in a different offense, but he's a guy that needs 20 carries a game to get going. He ain't gonna get that here by any stretch when we're throwing it nearly 140 times in 3 games. Not enough plays to go around and PT is still a freakin' beast carrying the ball.

ohhh no no no, please do not misinterpret me. I am not saying that we are calling the right plays. I complained all 2nd half about how predictable we are and how we should pass on first down, run on 2nd, mix it up. Yes, you are right. I am just saying our running issues are for a lack of trying.

Disagree with that on the Brees comment. I think that running on first down was producing, in the 2nd half, next to no yards or negative yards, so on 2nd we had to throw. Bad play calling. IMHO

I've been saying it now oh... 3 games run run run. That would help our d. now I know that's all we can't do, but damn we just have to keep our d on the sidelines as much as possible.

Re: Why aren't we running the ball?

Because the only time we can successfully run is when the defense expects pass. When we have to run and they know it we can't do it. O-line has been shaky to say the least.
