Numbers: Saints have little playoff chance

New Orleans Saints fans, here’s the stat you probably haven’t been waiting for.

But I’ll throw it out there anyway because it’s my job. According to ESPN Stats & Information, since the NFL went to its current playoff format in 1990, 113 teams have started the season 0-3.

Of those 113 teams, only three have recovered to make the playoffs.

The Saints are 0-3. You want to hear their chance at making the playoffs right now? I just pulled out the calculator, punched the numbers and came up with 0.02655 percent.

We’ll get you an update after next week’s game in Green Bay.

Should hit the Mora playoff button again but when he had the "Playoffs" rant he also said that he just hopes we can "win" a game.

Until we are officially eliminated from playoff chances I will continue to think we should be the better team than 99% of opponents in this league. When our players execute the way they are capable of, when our coaches scheme to exploit the opposing weaknesses or make us unpredictable, we can beat anyone. Bottom line right now is that to a man, no one on this team and staff is performing to a high degree. Shameful.

You know, I was an original Sunshiner. Perhaps my expectations have been raised to an unfair level. My moonshine logic, right or wrong, is pretty simple:

We have been beaten soundly by 3 teams that just aren't very good, twice in our own home as someone else pointed out. Neither of our 3 loses have been as close as the score would indicate, because in each of the three we showed moments of cohesion surrounded by complete ineptness.

The offense has shown flashes, and for that matter our beleaguered defense even managed a few three-and-outs, but these tiny blips on the radar have come against borderline or out right crappy teams. In other words, against relative bottom feeders, all we've managed on either side of the ball can be accurately stated as 'flashes'.

What's going to happen this week and next week when we play good teams - Green Bay and San Diego? Do we have the talent to beat these teams? I believe we have the talent to not only beat them but to beat them soundly.

Do I believe we will?

No.

The offense is clearly missing Sean's leadership. The defense is clearly struggling with the zone approach. Clearly our offensive line has take a considerable step backwards, and as bad as our defense played last year, it's actually worse this year.

Now I'll be rooting my ass of for them every week, because that's what I've been doing for decades. We would have to show monumental improvement just to go up to Green Bay and be competitive, and maybe we will be competitive, but I have no faith that our offense can generate a drive when needed, and I have even less faith that our defense can make a stop when one is required.

I'll be hoping like hell to be 2-3 after the next two weeks, but I'd bet the farm on 0-5. I'm pretty sure we're done.

The glass is not empty... there is still residual, and we only need 0.02655 percent.

In boxing terms, we still have a punchers chance.

Yeah, and before 2009, no team had ever finished the regular season 0-3 and reached a Super Bowl, much less won one. But along came the Saints.

I don't know how many other teams finished a season 0-3 and made the playoffs, but I do know that the percentage of the getting the Super Bowl, at that time, would have been 0.0000000000%.

I never took chances seriously.

A person has a spinner.

9.9999999999/10 of it is green. 1/10 of it is red. You're probably expecting it to land on green a lot right? Well you'll be surprised when it lands on red all 10 spins. It's all in Gods hands.

Well, since we're going with cliche's here, Lightning never strikes twice in the same place.:(
