Bags

It' s time to break out the bags again. Living in Az I am gettimg hammered by Cardinal fans. Someone even placed an extra large trash can in my cubical for me to store my Saints gear.

Re: Bags

Cardinal fans giving you crap? Really? That could be one of the most pathetic franchises in NFL history and they're giving you crap?

Show 'em the ring, and tell them to STFU.

Re: Bags

. That was the most disgraceful thing our fans have ever done. This team has done so much for the spirit of our city that they diserve better than that. They stayed in the city even though it may have made better sense financially to move. They have supported us and now its our turn to support them.

Re: Bags

AZ... The bags were not something true Saints fans were proud of and while it is a period we will never forget, we do not wish to ever repeat. It brought as much shame on the fans as it did the team.

The bag was meant to give anonymity to the people who attended the games. In your situation, I am not sure what good the bag would do... They already know where your cube is.

You may find this forums reaction to your post a little less than supportive.

Ask the Cardinal fans you work with what happened the last time the Saints & Cardinals played, and then forward this to them!

Re: Bags

The bags were a little before my time as far as being a Saints fan. One thing I would never do is resort to something that low down. The majority of the members here would probably agree with me that as true Saints' fans we wear our fanhood like a badge and wouldn't cover it up for anything in the world. We may catch hell from opposing teams' fans, but we still love and have a passion for this franchise that can't be taken away by hard times. We have experienced many lows before (some many more than others), but we still stuck with this team and no bags were needed. We have finally tasted what success feels like over the last few years with a Super Bowl win and becoming a perennial playoff contender. The struggles this year aren't new to us, but we have learned to expect more than what we have seen from this franchise. We may be angered and frustrated, but we wouldn't ask for that bag blemish to return for anything.

Drop trousers and poop on his desk. This is the only way to go.

Re: Bags

I never had a problem with the bags. At the time it was funny and innovative. It was a play on the Unknown Comic skit during that era and was quite appropriate at the time.

It also showed the world that while we were embarrassed by our pathetic team, we still supported them by showing up at the games. Something other elitist fans of other teams wouldn't do.

But that is all dead and gone now. The bags are passe.

Only if it's bedazzled.

Besides...... With the switch to plastic since those days, 1/2 the dome would suffocate.

I burned a paper bag on Feb 7, 2010 for a reason. No more bags.

Aahhhhhh....the bag era. You could watch a game and know we had no chance unless by some insane string of events we dupped a team. If we won the amount of shame on the other team was like making them wear double bags.

That would certainly improve the situation with the waiting list for those who can't get season tickets.

Re: Bags

if they play like they are now, we as fans have every right to wear bags if thats what you want.....just because some poster says its wrong, ....who the **** are they to tell you it isnt...I think Ill wear one to the next home game just to piss some of you off

Re: Bags

I am actually cool with paper bags. If the situation calls for it, ya know. The paper bags back in the day was the brain storm of Buddy Diliberto. It was seriously funny at the time, and really wasn't a display of disrespect.

Re: Bags

Situation never calls for it. If you're ashamed to be seen at the games, leave or don't go.

How about bag hats with the letters RG ! The full bag was hard to breathe in.

I'm diggin' it. How about an addition? Use the letters RG on one side and the NFL logo on the other. I am more embarrassed to be a fan of professional football than the Saints' season right now with this horrible officiating.

Re: Bags

No bags. Ask yourself how would you feel wearing a bag over your head if Steve Gleason was sitting right next to you. Because that is the kind of team we are now.

Also--the bags thing at the time was to say WE ARE ASHAMED TO BE SEEN supporting this team. There is nothing about the 2012 Saints to be ashamed of, or embarrassed about.. We are short two coaches, a GM, draft picks and several important players because of TEMPORARY sanctions that Rodger Goodell levied against the team. It's not like the front office said "we are firing Payton Vitt and Loomis and bringing in Kromer and all these other guys because we think they're better." If you're in the stands, you're not getting the product you paid for and were promised by the league back in February when you sent in your season ticket money. We're not even remotely close to full strength. If the sucking were totally unexplainable, if it was NORMAL, the best product that the team could field at full strength, then the bag heads might have an argument to break them out.

May be a little heavy, but that's what I would do, if a co-worker starting ribbing me about the bags -- instead of getting mad, I'd say, "No, no bags, we are a different team nowadays, just wait" and then I'd teach them about Steve Gleason and No White Flags and about ALS.

Re: Bags

Maybe bags were the thing of the early years. That was my fathers (rest his soul) Saints.
It's not the same team, and to do that im my humble opinion is to disrepect the current team.
Once again my opinion and I will not be wearing a bag.
Mainly because it would look stupid being stationed Virginia...

No need for bags, really we won a Superbowl. I cant seem to think the cards did.

No Bags, Please? Or do we need 2 bags, one for us & one for the players?

Re: Bags

Agree, the bag era is completely over. It was a fitting response at the time to poor ownership, coaching, and player performance. It was a joke that fit the situation. That's not what's going on here.

Not sure if this is true or not, but it is a great story!!

Back in the Aints era, a Saints ticket holder didn't want to go to a game, so he left his ticket on the dash of his car with the windows rolled down while he went in a store to shop.

When he came back, there were 6 more tickets on the dash!!

I remember once Billy Joe Tolliver finally won a game, finally! He had an unbelievable game, I think it was against the 49ers. After the game he said these are good times. Really? Good times? Then I started thinking about the bags and said you know what, you are right.
