3-0 or 0-3: What does it mean?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Not much. Consider this: 2002 Saints started 3-0. Things looked great. Then...we finished 9-7, with 3 straight losses and 3rd in the Division. 2001 Saints stared 4-1! We finished 7-9 and got destroyed the last 4 games by an average ...

3-0 or 0-3: What does it mean?

Not much. Consider this:

2002 Saints started 3-0. Things looked great. Then...we finished 9-7, with 3 straight losses and 3rd in the Division.

2001 Saints stared 4-1! We finished 7-9 and got destroyed the last 4 games by an average of 27 pts!

I just wanted to put things in perspective. Yes we look bad. Yes we have some serious concerns, no question. But at the end of the day a play or two and we could easily be 3-0. These were all close contest and it looks as if we are getting better, even if slighlty, every week. Could we go on an 8-0 run? Of course we could. It's not doom and gloom yet.

If we were getting beat by 2-3 scores then yes, I would concede it's hopeless but it's far from it. We may not be capable of handing out beatings but we can still right this ship and make the playoffs. It's way too early to fold and I hope everyone who is a true Saints fan understands this fact. Winning the division may be wishful thinking but a wild card is totally within reason.

you know, for me, 0-3 with all our talent is not something we can't overcome...

...except that we have played so poorly on both sides of the ball. I mean, we haven't even been competitive while losing to three pretty bad teams themselves.

0-3 when you play your butt off is completely different than 0-3 when you've had your butt handed to you 3 times - twice at home.

Ok, I'm gonna make this real simple for ya.

3-0 winning, possible elite team
0-3 loser, worst team in football.

How's that?
