The 91 yard run

The run by Jammal Charles did anyone see the holding that the tackle had on Martez Wilson. Now why isn't anyone talking about that call and a couple more that they had in the Saints game.

44Champs 09-25-2012 10:48 AM

I def saw that on the replay. So obvious. I'm sure it went both ways in that game. The refs aren't qualified for this league.

Re: The 91 yard run

That was not a hold, it was a bear hug. I was thinking they should get a room.

Without that hold, its a 3 yard gain.

Check it out at the 1:07 mark.

Also, Roman Harper outran Patrick Robinson and almost caught Charles. He isn't slow.

Edit: What happened to the video link? Why was it deleted?

I'll try again... If its against the rules, someone tell me so.

Re: The 91 yard run

It's hard to keep your eye on it, as Charles is running away, but also Tom Johnson (#96) gets pulled to the ground by his arm, by a Chiefs lineman on that play. Since when can you grab and yank someone's arm and pull them down to the ground with you. I guess in the Lingerie Football league grabsies and pulling your opponent to the ground are not considered a penalty.

Re: The 91 yard run

Its football... no way in hell I am letting another grown man hug me.. hold me... try to waltz with me.

If Pierre Thomas can not be held, if Darren Sproles can not be held, then 6'4" 250 lbs of Martez Wilson better figure out how to break that ****.

No more excuses, do your damned job or fall on the sword like Strief.

Re: The 91 yard run

Bottom line, teams should never rely on the refs to make calls to bail them out.

Holding could probably be called on every play if the refs wanted to.

The Chiefs made a helluva play; get over it. Saints had plenty of opportunities to put this game out of reach, both OFFENSIVELY & DEFENSIVELY!!!!!

BS, if we continue to get 5 or 6 calls go against us for every one that goes in our favor, you don't just "get over it".

Their offense was tackling our defenders all night. I was going crazy! Anytime we even thought about holding, flags came in from every official. I think the official in the booth even threw a couple. When Kansas City held....crickets.

You know, holding call or not, how is it that their RB was able to out leg one of our starting CB's in a foot race?

Like Danno said, it was Harper that actually showed he had another gear to switch to, not Robinson.

To be fair, Jamaal Charles has 4.3 speed. He may be the fastest RB in the NFL.

He is not just fast.. he is quick, he can cut, and he is strong... Wasn't he supposed to be the numero uno last year until he got hurt?

In 2009 He also became the only running back in NFL history to rush average 6.1 yards per carry, run 1000 yards and catch 40 balls.

He is a beast.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who saw it.

In the pic posted by beastmode, you can see Herring letting that "block" get in his way instead of getting around possibly filling the hole. What is the deal with our LBs? I thought Lofton had an OK game, but the rest...blah.

That wasn't just a "hold". That was an all out bear hug. Sorry...that was WAY too obvious.

Yea, I'd say that's a hold.

If its the blatent hold that allows a 4.3 RB around the corner? Yes.

Why do you think holding is a penalty?

So one player gets held and thats the excuse, what about the other guys that were in position to make the tackle and didn't.
Justify it anyway it makes you feel better but it was just a poor defensive effort.

And the hold was the reason it went 91 yards instead of 3 or 4.
It doesn't make me feel any better at all, we lost.

Why would you think it makes me feel better? Have you ever felt me?

No Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not my type, but I'm sure if you go down to the French Quarter tonight you can find someone to feel you

Look at the posted picture of the play. (Thx Coco)

Martez Wilson is clearly being held back from making what would be a more-or-less routine run stop.

Curtis Lofton (#50) also has someone holding his shoulder pad, you can see him leaning backwards because of it. His hips are going one direction, his shoulders another.

Patrice Robinson missed the tackle (I think that is who is off Charles' left shoulder) and then got outrun.

Roman Harper almost caught up to Charles, but the dude is FAST.

Other than those people, based on the picture, I'll ask you to educate me; exactly who are you referring to when you say, "In position to make the tackle and didn't?"

Patrick Robinson missed the tackle, seems like you answered your own question, so Lofton and Wilson were held and Roman Harper was just late getting over.

Re: The 91 yard run

Holding was the issue there, but it's easy to believe the LB's were out of position since they always seem to be this year.

Re: The 91 yard run

I agree with Joker, you guys are just blind or just don't want to face the facts.
Lofton and Robinson should have been there to assist in tackling JC and Roman Harper was just late at getting over to help out.

Re: The 91 yard run

Listen, I see what you are saying, but that is a blatant hold. That has to be called. It's true when people say "There are holds on every play", but this is so obvious and out in the open. It is practically a tackle! This doesn't excuse the poor performance of the offense in the 2nd half by no means, but this loss did have a lot to do with the refs.

3 Major calls that were awful:

The PT touchdown, there was no where near enough evidence to overturn the call. Hartley then misses a field goal. So the Saints are left with no points from it.

The hold being discussed, that brought the Chiefs back to life. The defense was actually pretty impressive until this play happened. This makes a 14 point swing if you include the awful PT call.

And for the Chiefs, the fumble ruled after Mccluster went down was another call that even as a homer I cannot agree with.
