Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Yes-Too many losses to overcome

No- Still a lot of football left & anything can happen

No.

There will still be 12 painful games to watch.

No WAY over...

Will still have at least 12 games for everyone to beat the team up - win or lose.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

If we fall to 0-4 and I'm not saying we will but the harshest part would be 3 NFC loses. We could turn this season around and end up 10-6 and lose a tie breaker because of all the NFC games we played in the first 6 weeks without a true head coach. 4 out of 6 against NFC opponents. Smells fishy to me.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Still way to early to tell. It all depends on what the rest of the NFC does...
Just never know when 8-8 gets you a wildcard.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

The rest of the NFC is not exactly on-fire. Not over if 0-4, still wildcard possible.

A poll?

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

If missing the playoffs by going 0-4 is the season being over, then yeah. Its a 16 week marathon, anything can happen but with an 0-4 start you can pretty much figure the players will be doing the same thing the rest of us fans will be doing in January, sitting on the couch watching other teams play.

This season, the parody is even greater than ever. Absolutely not over 4 games into the season.

we lost to 3 of the worst teams in the nfl.......and were supposed to rip off ten wins??????

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

I voted yes, with one ....

OK, nevermind, I should have voted no.

I'm in no way giving up on our team, but our playoff chances are looking mighty bleak.

0-5...yes. Especially if the Failcons go 5-0.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

We love our team, but this is not a team. Our o and d line is flat out bad. We cant catch the ball, we cant stop anyone. The teams that beat us has not one a game yet outside of beating us. There is another post on here saying we did not catch any any ..."No passes were caught in the 4th quarter or overtime." We let a guy go untouched for 91 yards on a running play. Take a look at our next six games and you tell me who you think we can beat.?
Is this season over....... yes, will I stop watching and pulling for them... No I have not yet through those very very bad years

Oh there is a lot of football left in the season, will we make the playoffs. No

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

It was over (from a playoff perspective) at 0-3.

2 NFC losses and 3 games back in the division. Ski-rooed...

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

No way. It ain't over until it's mathematically impossible for the Saints to make the playoffs.

The survey says: there's a 100% probability that you'll be watching the season opener of New Girl tonight.

Be real people the way were playing yes it will be over for use because of the rest of the teams we play this year.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

8-8 is a realistic record, anything better will be considered a plus. As far as the playoffs, doubtful even with the parody. A poll might not be bad idea. Still will watch with as much fire as ever before, only difference will be being drunker earlier in the day,,,just to get by brotha.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Good question, technically speaking at 0-4 it is not over. Are the chances of getting into the playoffs good, obvious no. I will no doubt watch every game if possible, no matter what the record is. The real problem is the way they have played so far, it is not very realistic to think the Saints can all of a sudden turn it on and rip a 9 or 10 game win streak. Possible, yes, but not realistic.

We have been known for beating the odds for the past few years, so nothing is impossible, but very impropable. They need to get a win, and if they do that, a lot of pressure will be off.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

No. It's over at 0-3. 0-4 just puts us a loss closer to first overall draft pick.

I'm going to say there would still be a slim chance, and that is because I believe Vitt will do a much better job coaching this team than Kromer. He might not be the coach Payton is, but he is an in your face guy and will do what he can to get the best out of them. This is still a very talented team.

It is not over. I believe they are contractually obligated to play the other 12.

Mathematically, no.

NFC Playoff Picture

Realistically, yes.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

surprised to see no one mentioned the 07 season, which this season feels a lot like to me. drew brees wasnt very good to start that season, either....

but, we started off 0-4 that year. that was the year deuce blew out his knee against the titans on monday night. :( but, we did turn it around and win four in a row to even it out at 4-4. so, i certainly think this team is capable of turning the season around after a slow start. sure, its a little different w/o sean payton on the sidelines, but, the man behind center was there to turn it around for us then, i believe he could do it again!

after that 4-4 start, we didnt really play much better than .500 ball to finish the season, but, we did have a shot at the playoffs at the end of the season.

everyone knows our offense can play better. the defense? well, lets just hope spags system gets learned a little quicker and who knows!? who dat!?

thefifthwall 09-26-2012 11:35 PM

There's about as much of a chance of us making the playoffs as us beating the best team in football with the best QB of all time at the helm. Could it? Should it? Would it ? Yes it can !

I hope not, because we are going to be 0-4.

Green Bay is coming off of a short week, and that game Monday night was a hard-hitting one. I know our chances are slim, but I could see us winning this game. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

I didn't see "it's already over" on the poll, so I didn't vote. Have you seen this defense?!?!

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Most of us were looking at this game as our 1st loss,
and that was with us playing at a high level.
Way too much disarray when we show up on Sunday.
I'll be turning flips on a bad knee if they pull this one off,
but I'm not holding out much hope. If they do pull it off,
a win in Lambeau may be just the thing to get a 10 straight streak started.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Whether we go 0-4 or 1-3, I've already stopped expecting a playoff run this season. If we sneak in, make a miraculous turnaround, that's fantastic ... but I'm gonna watch the Saints all season either way, like I always have.

Realistically, I'd like to see some younger players start to work their way onto the field. It's obvious - especially on defense - that some of the old hands ain't getting it done. Might as well let some of the young guys start taking their lumps.

SanDiego49er 09-28-2012 03:46 AM

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

If you go 0 - 4 (which is highly likely I think) you have to win 4 in a row just to get back to even. And your defense this year has not convinced me that they can go on a run to win 4 in a row. It's a long, long way to dig out to get back to even. I think you are looking at 2013 draft picks if you lose. You didn't trade away your 2013 1st and 2nd picks did you?

I think you can have a good 2013. All the coaches and players back. A high 1st and a high 2nd in the draft. Use them both on defense.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Well just since people keep bringing it up -- winning at Lambeau is not as difficult or impossible as people think,in fact the Lambeau thing is kinda over rated as a mystique or hype thing. Somebody had looked up the real numbers when we played them last year, their home record is good but actually not that intimidating or super impressive -- somebody here had the numbers (can't remember who), and the total won/loss numbers on Lambeau field, that makes it look like such a scary place to play, all the legends and hype are based on YEARS of dominance in the '60s and '90s and not really relevant to how the Pack has actually played in their home field in the last few years. Remember the Super Bowl year they squeaked into the playoffs at 9-7 (I believe) and won it all ON THE ROAD. Not at Lambeau. Lambeau and the "frozen tundra" had nothing to do with their Super Bowl year!

You can throw in the towel over the D if you want to, or start picking next year's draft picks if you feel like it -- but going into Lambeau itself is nothing to be afraid of or intimidated by or chalk it up as an automatic loss.
