For the 4th straight week, the defense has reduced the points scored by opposing teams.

As bad as they played for the majority of the game, the defense finally put the offense in position to win a game.

Horrible defense

I'm a huge Saints fan and hate to say it but our defense may be the worst in NFL history after 4 games! If we didn't have the best Quarterback in the league and the great offense we have then we would have been blown out in first 4 games! Bottom line! Defense has to play better......even a tad bit better!

I could live with no sacks ... but there were also virtually no hurries by the DL and no tipped balls that I can remember. The D-line has to do something, right? The bright spot is that at least the run D didn't get gashed as bad until Cobb went crazy toward the end.

HELLOOOOOOOO

This defense hasn't been good since 2009, and that defense was good because of a TON of turnovers- like they had turnover fever or something.

The following year they couldn't get a turnover if they paid for it!

Last year was, come on, our D was pretty darn sorry last year too.... think about it.... use your memory.

Our D played today on par with general sorriness of last season.

Look, there's nothing new to see here. Saying our defense suks is like saying our other color is gold. Everyone in the league knows it. I didn't see anything Gregg Williams would have done today to make a difference in that game, period. I don't watch the games expecting much from the D. I know when the offense drops balls, gets penalized, and turns the ball over, it's a guaranteed loss. The Saints cannot play with the expectation that the defense will ever bail them out, at least not this season or until correct personnel are acquired.

Our defense was terrible too. We only sacked Brees once all day.

Fixed

Yeah but lets be real. Your O line has allowed 16 sacks in 3 games and we couldn't manage one? Our D line is a joke.

They did play better. However, could they have played any worse?

Fair enough, but what about Green Bay's defense? Our o-line has been allowing sack after sack and Green Bay had the 3rd ranked overall defense and couldn't get to Brees.

I'll answer this - the Saints o-line made adjustments and came to play.
Same for Green Bay. We know their o-line had to step it up if they ever had any hope of outscoring the Saints in a shootout. Saints thought the same thing. Pass protection was good on both sides of the ball.

I will atribute this to the fact that GB only has one "difference maker" on the line and thats Mathews. They game planned to keep him quiet and for the most part was very successful. Mathews spent more time on his butt than anything. I am not saying there front 7 are not good because we all know they are but the lynch pin is Mathews. Who do they have to game plan for in our front 7? Thats a rhetorical question of course..we all know the answer to that.
