My theory on Saints Receivers' woes

Two words: Curtis Johnson
I don't think people gave him as much credit as he deserves. From 2006-2011, he basically developed a group of no-name receivers into one of the top units in the NFL. I think the impact that he had is much more obvious now that he's gone. I wish him the best at Tulane, but I wish he was still with the Saints.

Maybe, the receivers should go back to whatever gloves they could catch the ball with...

May also help if they wern't over/underthrown.

Morgan caught the ball with his hands on that long pass, perfect example of how your supposed to catch

Rewatch the game - I saw lance Moore drop two passes when he was more focused on gaining yards after catch than catching the ball
Colston and jimmy dropped a couple when they tried to bring it in with their chests, catch it with your hands not your arms!

When your a WR you are taught to watch the ball into your hands on every catch, the moment you look away and lose concentration you drop the ball

I think the Curtis Johnson thing is right.

But I also think that the new guy, Henry Ellard, he basically came in here, I think it was mid-March. He came in here, he had probably barely unpacked his boxes in his office and then BOOM, Payton was OUT THE DOOR, within like 2 or 3 weeks of his getting here. During the offseason, with no Payton around, no players around, he didn't know the players yet, or understand their skill sets or anything. He just kinda got thrown in there with nothing, almost no help at all.

No Payton to tell him what he wanted from him, to give instructions, set the tone, what the expectations were, show how the Saints did things, no Payton to introduce Ellard to our routes and receivers by spending time with him in the film room, or give him continuity from the Curtis Johnson style, this is how we do things around here, stuff like that. I mean in football that's huge. The guy is coaching the receivers in a vacuum right now, with no input from above.

It's another one of those little things, where not having Payton is hurting us in ways we maybe didn't predict.

The only way you can explain drops by an NFL wide receiver is lack of focus. It also wouldn't surprise me if a couple of our WRs are more focused on touchdown dances or throwing a first down sign than than they are completing the catch. Seriously.

Are we now blaming dropped balls on a lack of Curtis Johnson?

What did the receivers do in College, High School, pop Warner with out CJ?

BS!

"They" are to blame for the balls "they" drop.
