Meachem Ready for an Emotional Return
But just how emotional it will be remains to be seen.

ďHonestly, I know itís going to be emotional, but I couldnít tell you (how much) right now,Ē he said following Wednesdayís practice. ďItís going to be one of those things Iíll see when I get there. I might be teary eyed, but I donít know. I might be exhausted from overdoing it. I have no idea what I will feel like being on the other side. Itís like Jackie (Battle) said last week, I know all the people who work there. So itís going to be a weird feeling. Half of the fans are worried sick. I know them, so itís going to be a weird feeling, but I thank God for giving me the opportunity to do this.Ē

Meachem will be the first to admit he has had a slower start to the season than anticipated. Through four games, he has just six catches for 92 yards. In the four years prior to signing with San Diego, he hauled in 141 balls for 2,269 yards and 12 touchdowns. But to his credit, Meachem isnít panicking as he understands that it takes time to build a rapport with a new quarterback, even one as talented as Philip Rivers.

ďIf I had a guy like Malcom (Floyd) who Iíve been around for eight or nine years with, heíd be my first option too,Ē he said. ďBut weíre getting there. Me and Eddie (Royal) are getting there.Ē
