Our front four applied very little pressure all game until late.

We have a ways to go but you can see glimpses of our defense starting to play Spags system well.

It was actually very refreshing to see constant pressure in the 4th quarter, was that by accident when it was Wilson and galette? I think not!

Even if we did only really get going in the 4th, 5 sacks by our D shows me improvement and its getting better every week

Our defense was awful....

Suddenly in the 4th quarter it woke up. It was like a totally different squad. Thy actually had swagger.

I'm not seeing regression in the first 5 games at any phase of this team, only improvement. I'm pleased with that.

Tez is a good (could be eventually great) third down pass rush dude. Still say Junior starts, Will rots on the sideline along with Ellis. Good game from Tez Wilson and Junior. Both got pressure.

And did you notice the SD run game did very little with Hicks in there? I made it a point to watch when he got in. Don't care to see Smith and Ellis in there except for occasional spot duty.

Let the New Wave of D Lineman take the rest of the year to develop and gain confidence in this new system. Good on Tez and Junior, 'cause it makes the case to keep Will and Sed on the sidelines eating nachos and getting fatter while the other QB runs for her life.

I don't know about that. That last sack was the best play he has made so far in his career. I'm not sold on him yet. He still has a lot to prove in my opinion. Curtis Lofton is our best defender.

I don't think I can dispute that. The defense awakened suddenly in the 4th quarter, probably after Spags threw just about everything in the book at it from a personnel and technique stand point.

Let's hope Spags learned something and we see more improvement.
Defense has the most to prove on this team.

He played a nice game, especially in the 4th but as pointed out he beat a severly limited tackle. STill the unit showed improvement at the end of the game and i really hope this can be used as a building block going forward trough the season.

True the tackle was limited, but martez was beating him before he got injured, he beat him on the play that injured him, then did it again

Was nice to see galette and Wilson out there, they work hard to get to the QB

Love the dip and drive move Wilson kept using and galette used spins all the time which worked

Tez needs to understand the pro game better; when to settle along the line of scrimmage and when to rush up field. He did this on Junior's sack when he stood up the RB, taking away Rivers' swing receiver. Tez is coming around, and I am excited about him.

Swilling had the smarts and instincts plus he played with 3 other great LB'ers in a Capers coached defense. Can anyone make sure Tez gets a hold of Swilling's phone number? Those two need to talk...

We haven't seen more of him because of his mental lapses (2 penalties in last night's game). A blatant and inexcusable holding penalty on the punt return team (at the line of scrimmage of all things) and his illegal hands to the face call on the 2nd and 37 in the closing minute.

I've noticed #95's penalties, and they seem to come at unnecessary and/or critical times in the ballgame this year and last. He needs to play smarter, which I'm guessing is why he's not on the field as much.

But what do I know...I'm a weather guy, and I've been frequently wrong before.

I feel as if this defense will improve and end up being extremely good therefore making our team one of the best if not the best team in the league before all is said and done. I just worry that we'll knock ourselves out of playoff contention before that happens. The next 3 games will pretty much decide our season in my mind; if we can somehow get back to .500 I think we are in excellent shape. All 3 games are games I think that we can and should win. Of course that's pretty much a given, but the point I'm trying to make is that the defense will improve to the point where I think we can roll of a bunch of consecutive wins if we survive the coming weeks.

I'd prefer Galette at RDE for now. He seems much more complete than Wilson, at this point.

A nice mixture of Galette and Wilson in Will Smith's place makes me happy! Galette gets the nod as the starter with a healthy dose of Martez on 3rd and longs.

I haven't given up on Cam. He's been much better at containing his side on the run than Smith. Smith is just too slow now. It seems like my grandmother could get around him.

I think Cam Jordan is our best DE, and possibly our best D-lineman overall.

He's looking like the DE we hoped he'd be when we drafted him.
