Bye Week

We are now on a Bye Week, and its time to get healthy and reflect on what we have learned.... as fans of course.. The best after the fact, no pressure, armchair coaches to ever tell our wives what play "should have been run".

I am not a Pat Kirwan, or Gil Brant and would never pretend to be. But I do listen to the game calling and sort out BS from insight.

I believe in a balanced approach to being a fan, when you lose you separate what you did good from what you did bad and work on the bad. When you win you do the same exact thing... Its the only want to improve.

We won.. and that makes me a happy MF-r!.. But I still cant get past the fact that a few things we did not control are why we won. IF there is no illegal use of hands they had a pick6. That was NOT PI on gates and with out the following holding call they are two passes to Gates and 55 yards closer to the endzone.

A few things from our win:

Defense -
(C/S aside) Looked as if they are starting to gel and catch on to Spags scheme... A few 3 and outs for Rivers. Good Job. Fourth Qtr.
personnell changes showed that we can put pressure with the right players.

D-backs - Start playing the ball more. You CAN NOT get turn overs or break up a pass by playing the receiver only. If I am a QB and I know the Saints D-Backs are going to play the receiver only I am going long... I don't care about YAC because I am clunking out 20-30 a play. Especially in double coverage, back guy has the receiver and containment, the front guy has the ball... PERIOD.

Jenkins - I am ashamed to say thins but I hope he has a non season ending / non serious injury to his neck for the way he tackles. He is the last of the Williams style tacklers and what Floyd did to him at the 3 yard line was something he should flat out be ashamed of being a professional. That diving crap with no arms extended to wrap needs to STOP!

Meachem/Floyd: Literally smoked your azzes. 175 yards on 8 catches for 2 TDs? It would be worse if they didn't have some of the penalties they had.
22YPC and 2 TD's by Meachem... Really?

Offense - Commentator made a comment in the 4th qtr that either Kromer or Carmichael turned the play calling over to Drew. And for most of the 4th qtr... I would swear Sean Payton him self was on the sidelines. Screens, effective running game, ball constantly moving... Typical Brees 2 minute offense.

O-Line.... Good job giving Brees plenty of time.

Brees - Good job... Stop throwing interceptions. You got luck on the illegal use of hands to the face.

Going into Tampa:

I would force Kromer to focus on the o-line... thats his job and where he needs to focus. "other people have got this".

I would turn all play calling over to Drew. Apparently he has a Sean Payton mode in his head... And it frikken works. Lack of screen in the first 3 qtrs shows Pete looses sight of what we do best.

I would tie a 2x4 across Jenkins back to keep his arms spread ready to tackle 24/7... No more of that diving crap... You are not a mullet.

We are also as proven extremely vulnerable to the lagging TE play... Where the TE pretends to block then meanders out to screen territory.. He was wide open a few times and kept the ball moving. Gates and Rosario played that play well.

We now KNOW we can win with out Payton.. Not by choice but its possible and that is confidence the team needed and didn't have.

Re: Bye Week

Jenkins is not starter material. He was a bad choice that couldn't make it at corner so they moved him to safety.........that hasn't worked either.
Overall the entire team seemed to feel that Payton was in the building and wanted to play better.
Hopefully, Colston and Moore can heal up over the bye.

Re: Bye Week

Does any s3x website sell a blow up Payton?

What would Goodell do if we kept a blow up, cardboard, or fathedz Sean Payton on the sideline?

Re: Bye Week

Any of you played football? I cant think of a game other than the first of the season that something didnt hurt on me... Ankle, bruised forearms, hands, ribs, etc....

There is a solution for all that... (get that needle away from me)

Its called TAPE. Tape the marthafaulker up and play.

Sponge wrap and rolls of tape can fix nearly anything football related. Ribs too. Cant tell you how many games I played with foam taped to my ribs.

Yup I played two whole games at FS and KR with the ligaments torn in my shoulder, everytime I hit someone it felt like my arm had fallen off

But man when you breakdown and hit someone square all that adrenaline killed the pain in my shoulder

Brilliant!
Its only a matter of time. Perhaps we might make him a cardboard
cutout instead, though. New Orleans is a very diverse community, and "Blowup Payton" could attract the wrong kind of consumer.

But you've just given me a new marketing idea involving the Saintsations.
