Good read!

If the Saints make something of this wreckage of a season -- with Sean Payton watching on TV from his place in Dallas, with the fate of their reputation in so many courtrooms and lawyers' offices in Washington and New York, with one interim/interim coach giving way to an interim coach this morning, with the new judge and jury in the case the savior of football in New Orleans -- they'll look back at a play every Pop Warner, junior high school, high school, college and NFL coach should show their players before practice today. They'll look at a trait that warms the heart of every fan, a trait so many of us think is missing all too often from the games we invest so much of ourselves in.

Hustle.

Its odd that he ends up being the player of the game for that one play since he was having a shatty day otherwise.

I guess its the opposite of the Harper haters. Harper can have 15 good games and one bad one and people think he sucks. Jenkins has had 16 bad games and makes one spectacular play and he's awesome.

It's good to see hustle. It overcomes lots of other defects.

Speaking of Harper, that was a nice INT catch he made that got called back. Looked like a legal catch to me on the replay, thought I could see some daylight underneath his hands. While the play was happening I thought it bounced off of the ground but after looking at the slo-mo I think it should've counted. Nice to see Harper in position to make some of those plays

It is possible that Jenkins hustle will have the same effect on the Saints season like Meachem's hustle against Washngton in 2009!!

Re: Jenkins' TD-saving tackle could be turnaround for Saints' season

I will say this about Roman Harper, and that INT, even though some people around here like to rag on him... Harper is one of those guys who very rarely tries to jive the officials or "get over" with stuff like that interception, if it really wasn't an interception. And you'll see other guys, especially on other teams, *cough the Atlanta Falcons cough cough * , they are ALWAYS hamming it up with that stuff, acting like the play was something it really was not, or like they just made something happen, trying to get away with one. Know what I mean?

You know the type of guy who picks up an obviously dead ball and starts running away with it, looking around, that of type jive. Harper doesn't do that, unless it's a REAL PLAY.

So to me, when he makes that catch and starts RUNNING WITH IT, I was screaming at the TV, like, it's a catch it's a catch it's a catch! And we saw it pretty definitely was one on the replay. My point is that Harper is not the type of player who will try and fake or fudge something like that, if it wasn't a real catch.

Meachem will always have a soft spot in my heart for that one play. That's what I like to see.

HUSTLE!

That roughing the passer penalty by the Chargers was a game-changer (and a season-saver)... that we'd have to put in the discussion.

Jenkins now has 2 of those. He also stripped Roy Williams in Dallas on Thanksgiving in 2010. I was at that game and it was the difference maker.
