DENVER — The return of Joe Vitt obviously wasn’t the answer to the Saints’ defensive woes Sunday.

And he’ll be the first to say so.

“There was no pixie dust I could spread on this team to make it play better and more emotional,” said a somber Vitt, who retook the reins as interim coach this week, only to see the NFL’s worst defense carved up for 530 yards by Peyton Manning and the rest of the Denver Broncos. “We’ve got to do a better job of educating our football team of exactly what we need to do to win, especially in an environment like this against a good football team on the road.

“I told them (the players) in the locker room that quite frankly, there was way too much hype and not enough substance around the team this past week. That’s my responsibility and my fault.”

Vitt was speaking about the offense as well.

Vitt is a realist... They need a good dose of realism... Re grounding.

Re: Saints struggle in Vitt’s return

"There's no magic pixie dust to get them to play better"

Well you can start by getting in their faces and telling them to man up

I'd normally watch our team til the very end but last night, in the 3rd quarter our D wasnt running to the ball, was diving head first and completely missing the ball carrier, was the most pathetic football i've seen in my life

I just thought to myself " I booked a day off work so i could stay up til 5am to watch this, but whats the point in me watching when our players obviously don't care about the game and just wanted to leave, no point staying up until 5am when the players weren't giving any effort
They just didn't care anymore, it was obvious they wanted to be back on the plane heading home, no fire, no passion and no damn pride

I feel for the fans that travelled all the way to denver to watch a piss poor effort by our team, i'd feel embarrassed and ashamed if I was the guy in charge of the team

Your bonehead creator picked a fine chapter to omit from your memory bank....let me ask you, does a machine like yourself ever experience fear? - Vegeta, DBZ
