Everyone wants to make a statement, huh?

As I expected, we've got some folks that are writing the Saints off after one preseason game. And some who are very close.

Well, I say we are going to have a very good team. I feel so strongly about it that I'm going to go on recored right now and say we will beat Seattle in our home opener.

I'm assuming the pessimists think we will get beat by a large margin?

Just remember all this "stuff" ya'll are posting after the 1st preseason game. Remember all of it after we beat Seattle.

And for those of you with short memories........I'll be sure to remind ya!! :P

That\'s what I\'m talking about Gumbo, put them on notice! I am sure, as you are we will beat Seattle and alot of others this season.

See Billy, this is the kind of post that makes the rest of us in this community love you so much.

I get the feeling that you feel about the Saints like you\'d feel about your \"almost a virgin\" sister when somebody questions her reputation. You don\'t care if it\'s true, you just don\'t want anyone talking bad about her. (I do not know whether you do or do not have a sister. This is a fictional \"sister\" used for illustration. So don\'t go nuts on me about it.)

How do you feel about the D giving up 20 yards on 3 carries to Martin? That bothered me.

I don\'t think it\'s a fair assessment to write the Saints off after one preseason game. After all the hype we\'ve heard from camp let\'s see how they react to breaking down their first game film. I know it was an ugly win, but as the man said, I\'ll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week. It only takes a spark and as insignificant as preseason is, it was still a good message to young guys and old alike that they can win. In reality, I think they will have a more positive attitude towards preparing for the next game coming off a first-game win, then they would if they had lost it. Buck-up guys, no matter how you cut it, Saints 1-0 early in this new season.

You\'re right C, they could have lost the game, but I believe it was the defense stepping up in key situations that made the difference. Even if it was only preseason.

Geaux Sully!!!

Best post in this thread, and it\'s only one word. Nice ;)

My prediction for the Saints-Seahawks score? Saints-76, Seahawks-4.

You\'re counting on the Seahawks getting 2 safeties in the same game in which they gave up 76 points?

New Orleans 24
Seattle 31

The key mismatch , will not be wearing a helmet . Rhodes vs. McCarthy gives the Seahawks an unfair advantage in this one , it was ugly last year and it is going to get uglier now . The Walrus is gonna B slap Haslett defensive style ...........

Truth be known, I have no idea how the game against Seattle is going to go.

IF we judge the Saints by the ONE preseason game we saw, then it ain\'t looking so good. But that would be silly.

What can be learned in ONE preseason game? Nothing really. And I didn\'t expect to learn a whole lot.

I understand that all the positive things I saw could be very misleading. Will Smith might struggle against a 1st string offensive line. J.T. O\'Sullivan might struggle againt a REAL defense. Jonathan Sullivan might struggle against a 1st team offensive line. None of these guys proved themselves last night. And it wasn\'t possible that they could have.

I also understand that the negative things I saw could be misleading. It was only the second time this year that the defense has done any live tackling. It was the FIRST time the team had played against anyone other than their teammates.

Believe it or not, but it takes time to get into regular season form!!

We\'ve got some folks on here who like to play everything from talent scout, to coach, to Monday Morning QB. But, some of you are forgetting a BASIC rule --- IT\"S PRESEASON MAN!! AND IT WAS ONLY THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME!!

How \'bout we give this team a fair shake before we go making our minds up about them. What are some of you guys thinking.

We need to improve on last nights performance. There\'s no doubt about that. But that\'s about all I can take away from the game.
