I don't really see that happening as long as we have Spags as the DC.

I think it depends on what we are looking for and what the draft is loaded with if we are hurting our chances for a good pick or not. Lets say we want a LB and the top 10 is loaded with offensive skill and DL, then it doesn't matter if we pick that early or not. Its so hard to predict that kind of stuff already.

Drafts picks are not really going to be the answer. May get lucky and get a good one and start building but it is going to take a lot of moves and maybe a couple of years. The thing that bothered me was it seemed the organization was reluctant to go out and get someone after Lofton came on board. And very reluctant to let some of our busts go.

We signed Bunkley, Grubbs, Hawthorne, Chamberlain and Lofton. That pretty much maxed us out cap wise.

Who didn't we get that you wanted and we could afford.

Which busts did we not let go of?

Malcolm Jenkins and Patrick Robinson are not exceptional football players.

So what top pick is worth losing games for vs the winning attitude. Look at our current players, other than Drew maybe Graham, who is worth losing for.Only losers plan on losing and we ain't lost yet.

This type of attitude of throwing away an entire season for higher draft picks is what kept New Orleans in the dumps for years.
I'm glad its gone thanks to the current staff, and hopefully this type of talk goes away.

I want the Saints to win. The Saints are more than one player away from being even a good defense. Hicks was a third rounder. At times, he looks like the best player on the defense. Smith, Ellis, and Jenkins were first rounders who simply have never played near their draft stratus.

I think either I have not explained the pint I was making well enough.
At no point was I suggesting not trying to win games. It was a genuine question as to what point do you use the rest of the season to see who will and who won't be here next season.
When do you decide that player X may be a step behind player Y but that he is younger, cheaper and has a higher upside over the next few years. So when do you start them to get them ready and gain the experience for next season.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

"Not explained well enough" is quite the understatement.
If you are not deciding on a game by game basis, practice by practice basis who's the better player, then you are doing it wrong.

If you are talking about extended playing time for 2nd and 3rd stringers who only see the field during punts and kickoffs to see what they got in a game that counts, as in, say, sitting Drew and letting Chase start at QB, then you need to wait until you are mathematically eliminated from the playoff race.
