Payton could skate out of New Orleans all the way to Dallas

Say it aint so Sean!!

Sean Payton is smarter than I thought, and I thought he was plenty smart. Before his suspension he helped the Saints pick his coaching replacement for the 2012 season, and he screwed up the process so much that the Saints went into the dumper. This isn't hindsight, either. I saw it happening in April, and wrote about it then.

But Payton is smarter even than that. He has manipulated events so thoroughly that a return to the Saints as the conquering hero, which looked to be his end game back in April, has become an afterthought. It could still happen, sure -- but that has become the least of his options.

Unless Roger Goodell pulls another Roger Goodell and smites Sean Payton for the hell of it, Payton is about to become the most coveted, most expensive free agent coach in NFL history.

Oh for God's sake does it ever stop? He is our coach, not the devil incarnate, and we are all going to live happily ever after so folks need to back off.

I am just glad nothing came of this:

Roger Goodell Writes-In “Roger Goodell” On Presidential Ballot
November 6, 2012 ·

By PFM Staff

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, while voting in the U.S. Preidential election Tuesday, entered the name, “Roger Goodell” as an official write-in candidate, it was reported Tuesday.

“Just as a joke, of course,” said Goodell moments after leaving the voting booth. “I’m not seriously suggesting that voters all over the nation who want a President that would bring discipline, structure, and a firm ruling hand to the Oval Office should write in my name on their ballot. Although if they WERE to elect me in a shocking and historic write-in landslide, well, who would I be to deny the will of the people, right?”

Sources close to the commissioner confirmed that, if elected, the write-in President would appoint former commissioner Paul Tagliabue as his Vice President, appoint a cabinet comprised of current NFL owners Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder and Robert Kraft, and name New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton as public enemy #1 and immediately banish him without trial to a maximum security Federal Penitentiary until such time as a formal appeals commission, comprised solely of Goodell himself, saw fit to lift the sentence.

Honestly I don't think Sean is the type of guy to walk away especially after the season we hare having. He will want to come back and contend for another super bowl. Another thing why would he choose Romo over Brees? It's just chatter and it doesn't mean a thing. As long as Brees is with the Saints, there will be Sean Payton.

I am guessing some people have forgotten that "Loyalty" doesn't factor into players or coaches' minds when it comes to MONEY. Drews loyalty goes as far as his paycheck. As with all the other players and coaches.

THEY ARE NOT FANS. THEY ARE EMPLOYEES.

And they are ALWAYS looking for the better deal.

There are probably MORE teams that would want Brees as their QB than would want SP as HC!

Brees could have told the Saints he was going to the highest bidder and thanks for the memories!

I do think that Payton will ultimately re-sign with the Saints because of his relationship with Brees!

Payton will not be our coach next year. Bank it.

If he leaves.....terrible things will befall him. Tony Romo and Jerry Jones are two of them.

I seriously don't give a rats butt if Sean Payton ever coaches the Saints again. I do think Payton is one of the best in the business, but seriously, the Saints will march on without him if it comes down to that. Payton's main success is all about Drew Brees, and the last time I looked, Brees is under a Saints contract for like the next 6 years. Even a Mike Ditka team in the late 90's would have rolled a crap load of wins with Brees at QB.

I seriouly disagree with that. I mean we have Drew Brees now and we're 3-5...
Sean Payton is the key to victory IMO

Remember last year when he was not on the sideline with a broken leg?The team played like crap.He is just a booster, but he cant fix the defense not making tackles or easy dropped balls . Its just been an odd year ,im already waiting for next season . Its a hard time to be a Saints fan,but its in these times that real fans show their mettle .

Work on that contract Payton and Loomis, that will put a stop to all of this.

He will be our coach next year. No question. His absence has proven his worth beyond his presence.

I just hope SP isn't represented by Tom Condon.

Stupid sports writer stirring the pot, just throwing crap up against the wall to see if anything sticks. There is some loyalty to the Saints involved for Sean but also I believe he loves the working relationships he has built here and it would take an over the top ginormous amount of money to make him consider leaving the Saints.

I can't take any more bad news this week after Tuesday.

Only if we win decisively over the Falcons will I put contemplated suicide on hold.
