NFL Rumors: Darren Sproles To Play In Week 10(He's out)

New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles missed the Saints’ 28-13 Monday night victory over the Philadelphia Eagles with a broken hand. Sproles suffered the injury back in week eight and was seen on the sidelines with a cast on his left hand in week nine. In the latest string of NFL Rumors it is speculated that Sproles could be back in week ten as the Saints face their bitter rivals, the Atlanta Falcons.

It is reported that an injury like the one Sproles suffered usually takes about two to six weeks to fully recover, but the Saints will re-evaluate Sproles this week to see if he can go in week ten. The Saints managed to secure a big win minus Sproles as the defense stepped up in a big way. Furthermore, the Saints also got great production from running backs Chris Ivory and Travaris Cadet.

Re: NFL Rumors: Darren Sproles To Play In Week 10

New Orleans Saints interim coach Joe Vitt would not declare running back Darren Sproles or any of the team’s other three injured players out for this week after they missed Thursday’s practice.

Vitt ruled Sproles out of last week’s game early after he had surgery on his fractured left hand, but said it’s a wait-and-see situation for Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Vitt will file the final practice report for the week Friday, which will include the game status of players appearing on the report.

Right tackle Zach Strief, who left Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a groin injury, is in the same situation.

“You listen to the advice of the doctors, the trainers and the player — and then you make a decision,” Vitt said of the challenge in making a decision. “It’s really not any bigger of a challenge than in the preseason. The player’s either healthy enough to go, or he isn’t.”

I say: Hold him out, and let him heal properly. If he comes back too soon and aggravates it, he may be lost for the rest of the season. Also, if it's not properly healed, his grip on the football will suffer. We certainly don't want more FUMBLES & dropped passes!

We will need him in the final stretch in the last 6 games or so. Again, keep him out for now.

JMHO

Yeah got to agree with you

We don't want him re-injuring himself or making a costly mistake because his hand isnt healed, hold him out, see what its like next week

For now, go with the three headed monster at RB, pierre, ingram and ivory

If we get all those guys touches, we could take this game

If Ivory starts rolling, watch for ingram to come out rip off big gains, he did last week when ivory had a good game lol

I got Tawaine Jones starting in his spot. If Sproles plays, he might be limited w/ touches. I'm going to have to hold off on starting him. Hopefully he scores twice and makes me look stupid.

True...my benched scrub is Michael Bush, so it's not that bad. Might be best to keep him in along w/Frank Gore.

Re: NFL Rumors: Darren Sproles To Play In Week 10

The Saints have ruled out Darren Sproles (hand) for Week 10 versus Atlanta.

Although some optimistic reports suggested Sproles could return this week after missing just one game, the Saints never put a timetable on his injury. Consider him "week to week." New Orleans employed a three-back timeshare in Sproles' absence last Monday night against the Eagles, essentially distributing touches evenly between Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, and Mark Ingram. Thomas remains the most desirable fantasy option of the group in Week 10.
