Re: 457 yards allowed

Total yards still isn't all important. Points allowed, scores in the redzone, 3rd down conversions, turnovers is all much more important imho.

Re: 457 yards allowed

One of the keys of todays win was that the Saints defense made the falcons one dimensional.

falcons only gained 46 yards on the ground on 18 carries for a 2.6 yds/carry average.

Best they've been against the run in a long time.

Only stat I care about is the W and it looks like we have found our swagger. Just think what we could do if the defense could start allowing -400 total yards... :bng:

And just to answer your question, we've only given up 500 yards once this year.

Still being one dimensional isn't that big of a deal if you can still produce. Producing gets harder when you are one dimensional but isn't impossible.
More telling is the fact the Falcons redzone efficency was 50% while the Saints were 66%.

Baby steps.

Nobody's shut down the falcons this year. I didn't expect this defense to be the first to do it.

This is the best the Saints D has played the run the this season. No rushes for over 20 yards and only one over 10 yards. Not being able to run the ball kills red zone efficiencies and third down conversion rates.

A win's a win though

And less than 100 of that was from rushing!

Stats are for losers, I don't care how many yards the Saints give up, as long as they have at least one more point than their opponent at the end of the game!
