I\'ll tell ya what it is. You spent a year or so posting so many positive and over the top positive statements that it is hard to believe that you now have an actual conviction of seeing the negatives. Right now, it is screaming ulterior motive.
Did your wife ever tell you that you don\'t look at the whole picture? I\'ve done the samething since day ONE as I\'m doing now.

You just like to believe the negative stuff before the positive. Not that there\'s anything wrong with that.

C\'mon, Scotty, you don\'t think there\'s a LOT of folks on here that post so much NEGATIVE stuff it hard to take them serious when they talk about the positive things?

And should I take you seriously?!

Question - and this is in all seriousness.

Why is this relevant? Does the fact that the Saints interior linemen limited the effectiveness of an unproven opposing linemen mean that there is good reason to think they will do that in the regular season?

If so, why is there not good reason to think the run defense will continue to suffer?

You are 100% correct WhoDat.
It doesn\'t mean anything really.
Was it because our line is good, or was it Robertson still sucks?
I think its difficult to speculate anything based on the 1st pre-season game.
I think its fine to point out good and bad, but at this stage it means very little.

If we continue to get run on up the middle all 4 practice games, then we may be able to draw some conclusions none of us will like.

Should you take anyone on here seriously?

I\'m not saying you haven\'t pointed out negatives since day one. I\'m saying it\'s hard for me to believe that you have after the deluge of positive posts you\'ve written - especially at the beginning of last season.

You wondered about why you don\'t get much response to your negative posts and I\'m trying to tell you the way I see it. But I didn\'t really see a change in you until this summer. That\'s when i really started noticing you at least recognizing and posting negative issues that effect the team. (I\'m not saying you didn\'t do it earlier.)

As for me, I see myself as middle of the road as far as the shine goes around here. I think the offense can tear apart any defense, but Brooks must be hot to do it. I think the defense needed many improvements and got a few of them and can be beter than last year. I\'m going to point out more negatives in the preseason probably because those are areas of need (as if it matters what I think).

Scotty --

When I first joined this site, I was amazed at the amount of unjust criticism on this board. There were folks on here saying Brooks needed to be traded. And they come up with EVERY OVER-THE-TOP reason in the book.

I won\'t get in to all the players that were being bashed on here when I first joined. All I know is I thought I\'d fell into a Falcons\' board where a few Saints fans were hanging out.

So, yeah, I posted some positive stuff because I didn\'t like what I was hearing. I\'m a Saints fan. I don\'t mind hearing the negatives. But I\'m not interested in anyones negative agendas or consipracy theories.

ScottyRo -- Surely you\'ve read some of the samethings I\'ve read by the \"moonshiners\" ?

Why aren\'t you calling them out? They\'ve ruled this board forever!!

Man, it\'s hard for me to believe you\'re unbiased when you\'re saying I make over the top positve posts and just ignore what\'s really gone on here.

Give me a break, Scotty. Or just be fair.

Well with the two poles of this site being moonshiners and sunshiners, I\'d put you, Billy, at the far sunshiner side. I\'d probably put Gator up as being farthest on the moonshiner side.

Why don\'t I get on Gator? Mostly because I don\'t think he can take it. Not that I don\'t think he can defend his argument, but he goes from zero to outrage in nothing flat. (I\'m cringing at the retribution I face for saying this much.)

One simple example of how far out I think you are is Brooks. I think he\'s a good QB. You think he is a Top 3 QB. There are others that don\'t think he\'s even a good QB and I\'ve discussed that with them. You may not have been coming to this site when it happened so you wouldn\'t know about it unless you researched it.

I question everything that is said on this board, but only post when I feel like it. It\'s not all directed at you.

Sorry for getting so far off topic.

ScottyRo --

I enjoyed our conversation. I guess I\'m just one of those folks who likes to know what makes a person tick.

Some of us (myself included, not referring to you at all) like to draw lines in the sand.

It\'s fun and challenging to defend a view. We\'ve got some clever guys on here who are fun to debate (argue) with.

The problem is, some of us go over the top to defend our beliefs, or to prove others wrong, that we carry it over to some serious topics, that could be debated in a much better fasion.

What I mean is, I think we have some very knowledge members here who get caught up in trying to prove someone wrong that it becomes counter-productive. Now, I enjoy it a lot of times. But, I think we all become frustrated when we\'re trying to talk some serious football.

Yeah, I know........Pot meet Kette -- :P

I did enjoy it. :exclam:

Thank you Danno. At least your posts show your ability to think beyond your own hopes and dreams.

Seriously though - while I don\'t think the first preseason game says a whole lot about a team\'s season, it does start to give insight into a team\'s strengths and weaknesses, IMO. Like you said, how the Saints fair throughout the regular season is much more important than one game. Still, Curtis Martin and the Jets are, IMO, no powerhouse running attack. That we got chewed up the way we did has to make you at very least wonder if the run d has gotten any better, right?

I\'m nowhere near saying that b/c they played poorly in the Jets game that they will all year, which is what Billy seems to think I\'m saying - but I also don\'t think that that game tells us NOTHING about the team. That\'s just me, what do I know? Obviously teams risk injury to their players not to evaluate individual talent and team strengths and weaknesses, but rather just for sh-ts and giggles. Right Bill?

As far as Robertson; most likely a bust. Sullivan.. i feel the same. Keep in mind we passed on Trufant, the Jets passed on Newman and Trufant! Pathetic
