It will be interesting to see if this kid has the composure to have a game against the Saints like he did against the Bears when he is faced with the adversity of playing in THE DOME! Hopefully we can get a few early hits on him to get him rattled to the point where he starts making mistakes. He is a lot more mobile than Alex Smith, so that could be dangerous. Throw a few "remember me" shots on him, and that may cut out some scrambling pretty quick.

I have to admit that I am a bit surprised that Harbaugh is going with Kapernick. I get that Kapernick is an exceptional athlete and had an exceptional game against the Bears, but Alex Smith should be the starter. All Alex Smith has done for the past 1 1/2 years is win games. Why is Harbaugh rocking the boat this late in the season, with his team having a nice record, is beyond me. Save the QB controversy for the off season...

Of course, there is the other side. If recent history holds true, Kapernick will have a great game against the Saints, and Harbaugh will look like a genius.

I think the Defensive scheme of the Bears was set right for KP and that Offense be it Alex Smith or KP playing to completely dominate that defense.

I think the Bears defense is quite Over rated anyway.

I think the Saints new Defensive scheme is going to limit the 49ers offense big time.

I'm not. He's never truly had Smith's back. Remember the Manning fiasco. Smith isn't that good. He's more lucky if you ask me.

This has not been confirmed yet correct? Either way I think we will give either QB fits as long as we are aggressive. If Gore is the one only one that kills us with yardage we will be fine.

NFL.com is reporting that Smith will not be starting and that Kolin will. I'd rather have Smith starting. Did anyone watch the Bears game? This Kolin kid is good. And I hope to hell he doesn't eat us alive.

This one concerns me...but the truth, it would concern me more if there was no film on the guy. We historically make newbies look like studs.

I agree with Crusader adn others.

It is a well known secret that Kaepernick will start this week and most likely for the rest of the year. Backup qb only ets one time to really get out there and CK has. He is young, tall, accurate, well, loked good last week. Impressive. He was with another team before. then sent to SF. Colin K wants this job move and got his chance in the spotlight.

I believe in Saintville, but Saints defense will have their work cut out for them. Saints defense have to be on, new, put on pressure, and make some big plays.
SF49's offense is ready to go. SF 49's are coming fully laoded with new , good, qb, defense, offense, new playbook, the works. They are coming as if this is their SB Sunday There is no kidding there.

I am hopeful that Colin is on a high after his last performance and is a little over confident. Perhaps he will force some things when he shouldn't or be goaded into some coverages. I really think with young QB's the key is early and aggressive pressure. They need to be rattled and brought off their game.

Kolin has had one good game. Last year in the dome during the preseason game we made the kid look like a scrub. I get the potential he shows, but they are throwing way to much at him. Playing in the dome is no easy task for any QB, much less one with one start under his belt.

The real factor will be will be how we play and if our offense can put points on the board against their D.

I'd be shocked if Smith doesn't start. IMO, this would be a colossal mistake by Harbaugh.

Just keep up with the guy. He's not RG3. He's more like Michael Vick(and we all saw what the saints D did to Vick).

He's not as smart as RG3. Personally I feel that if they had Smith they could have won that game against the rams.

The reality is the bears game was won by the D. 5.5 sacks by one guy? One of the worst O lines in the league? No Cutler? The bears defense can't tackle anyone(It wasn't cause Gore is good, the bears just refused to tackle)? Really?

With how bad the bears D was. I was kind of disappointed in Kaepernicks performance because the bears honestly looked like how we looked at the beginning of the season.

I don't know much about Colin kapernick, for good reason.
But I know he doesn't pass the name test for being elite.

"Now kapernick was one of the best ever" is something we will never hear.

and I know if his decision as QB are anything close to what he does to his body or that ridicules Pharaoh beard we have nothing to worry about,lol

They have gone a lot back and forth. First Kaepernick starting. Then no decision made. Then Alex not recovered from the concussion. Anyway Kaep has been taking the 1st team snaps in practice. He looks real good. Very accurate and strong arm. Very fast running around.

Kaep is a young guy though and raw at times. I have no idea what to expect as a 49ers fan. He can be good and he can be raw. His physical ability is tremendous.

Its not that tremendous sense he's not a top draft anyone was looking at, and no idea what to expect is a huge problem. Personally I think this kid is going to get his butt kicked behind that weak pass protection line of SF. Bad move.

CLUE #1 - We lose to rookie or inexperienced Quarterbacks. It gets in our head.

You don't have to pay a man 100 million bucks to get a win against the Saints out of him. They just seem to RISE to the occasion.
