Finally the suffering ends for this Season!

No way we make the playoffs so now we can sit back and watch the games and see any progress and start talking trade and draft bait. No more pressure to Win! No big heartbreak if we lose.

BountyGate can now move behind us.

Next year we get Payton back and the game and playcalling gets managed properly.

Defense looked lots better but we still need better talent.

Sadly, we are back in "next year" fan mode.

Once the clock officially hits 0:00 on the December 30th game I'll be done with the NFL until Fall 2013 - assuming this world is still here and I'm still on it.

The only exception being that come February I will break out the 2009 post season DVDs and travel back to the "good old days" instead of watching the Goodellbowl.

I do want to watch the Falcons get crushed in the playoffs again. It's the gift that keeps giving.

I think the 49er's loss was the nail in the coffin.

4 wins + 2 losses by nearly every NFC team not leading their division.

I'll be watching the games, just to see improvement in the defense from here on out...

And I can't wait for the offseason, just to see who we get...

ppppplayoffs? My expectations at the beginning were tempered, therefore as I watch the defense improve, which it has the last couple of weeks, I'm encouraged somewhat...not from the wins/losses but in light of what has happened this year, I see promise moving forward. I feel with coaching stability, the offense will stabilize. On defense, you have been seeing improvement weekly and when we have a full off season with all the components, primarily coaching and Mickey, we'll be okay. The defense needs tweaked, some gotta go, but I for one am encouraged.

lynwood, I totally agree.
I did not want to post about three weeks ago , but I could not see this team this year going pass 8-8. I HOPE HOPE the Saints can make 8-8 , no WC Playoffs, that would be great!!!

Great considering everything this year, yes it would be great.
Great and over.
Saints last few games here are very hard.
AtlF lucked out having very easy games for the rest of the year.
The last
NY Giants . That is their only hard team.
SanFran49'ers should have no problems for the rest of this month, December.

Re: Finally the suffering ends for this Season!

Horrible playcalling all year and the little things that good coaching can overcome were the reasons the Saints came up short this year. Last night for example, the Saints were gouging the Falcons with the run, had several 2nd and shorts, and Carmichael absolutely refuses to run the ball two times in a row. He calls the game like a video game player. Just horrible. Plus, I don't understand the need to feed Sproles. It's tells the defense it's 95% likely a pass, he's a HUGE liability in pass protection, and is guaranteed to have a couple drops. Not rolling some occasional help to a RT that is coming off a groin injury and not the most athletic to begin with is HORRIBLE. Strief put in a gutsy effort. I give him big props. But, to leave him one on one with one of the leagues best pass rushers is a bad idea if he was fully healthy. Simple things. Obvious things. In my opinion, only two teams really outplayed the Saints. Washington and Denver. The losses to Carolina and the Chiefs were inexcusible. At worst, the Saints should be 7-5. Oh well. Hurry back coach Payton.

Re: Finally the suffering ends for this Season!

In all reality, it's not over yet. Every team we are stuck in the middle of the NFC with will probably lose this weekend. We are in a big clump of Suck. Which is appropriate, since that is the only way Atlanta gets to be the best of the NFC. The wildcard team for the NFC is more than likely a .500 team, and we are still in that hunt, like it or not.

Now to watch the EACH game for what it is, a separate game to enjoy or not depending on the play.

The suffering ends when Godhell resigns in disgrace!

There are several teams with head coaches that have done worse this season. Making it this far into the season with playoff hopes gives me a lot of hope for teh future.

I just don't understand why fans had playoff hope this season. The Saints have overall played hard and inspired, though the D has absolutely sucked for most of the year. We've endured coaching, front office, and player suspensions.

Still, Ill always have faith that the Saints will battle on with pride. Hey, there's always next year. Had I said this in other groups, it would've been at least 50 neg reps. Oh wait. I have like 6 games in...

OK, am I mistaken or did every team we are fighting for the wildcard with just lose today?

There is Saints football to be had this year and by God i am going to have it.... You can find something else to do and wait until next year...

I'm a Saints football fan, and it is not because of whether we win or lose.

LOL, this is how you differentiate between a new and old Saint fan. We are conditioned better for disappointment.
