If anyone wanted to put an asterisk on a Saints season, this would be the one!

We all knew deep inside that the Saints 0-4 start pretty much doomed their season and run at the Super Bowl.

The loss of our head coach being the over-riding factor; IMO, if Payton was with the Saints, WE would be 11-1, with the loss probably being to Green Bay.

Injuries have been a factor, mostly in the last 2 games.

I hope having 10 days rest will get the Saints rested and ready to beat the Giants!

Why win now ? Might as well blow the season to get a high draft pick.

Good point. Make a late statement to Goodell for digging us this hole, too.

But we won't.

If we tanked the rest of the season for a high draft pick, Roger would probably use an executive decision to take our 1st round pick away...

Like being down in a game eats up a lot of your effort to come back, so has the 0-4 start.

Time for change is on the near horizon.

Statistically the worst D in NFL history, a decreasingly effect offensive line (that lacks depth), and star players who are only getting older.

Window is closing... Depressing... Let's hope there is still time.

The window is not closing! We've had too much bull**** to put up with this year. Besides teams, who's cities host super bowls, have a jinxed year. This was bound to happen especially without coach Payton. I expect a totally different season in 2013.

I have to disagree.

We've got about 4 more quality years out of Brees, and as bad as this D is, it may take 2 of those to be a (deep) playoff threat again...

At least the whole Brees consecutive games with a TD record thing is over. Can we get back to playing football please? By "we" I mean Drew. Let's get back to basics. I love Drew but even I can't defend 7 interceptions in 2 games. Sure the line was terrible but Dayum!

I still wanna win out!

Elway won back-to-back Super Bowls at age 39 and 40. Favre led his team to the #1 seed and made it to the NFC Championship game at age 40. Saying there's only four more years of Brees left in the "window" is really a misinformed statement.

ME TOO!!! We're not going to the playoffs, but 9-7 beats any other record we could end up with.

Screw draft pick positioning. Assuming the facist Commissioner doesn't take ours, we'll not do a lot with it anyway.

Loomis/Payton's drafting expertise is inversely proportional to the pick # - lots of great later round picks and some first rounders that seem to underachieve...

Seen the hits he is taking this year compared to the past few years? He's not exactly the size of Cam Newton and will not hold up to that as well the older he gets.

Name an instance where Brees has had to leave the game cause of sacks? stop panicking cause of this game, it's not like this ONE loss is what's keeping us out of the post season! Losing to the chiefs, panthers and red skins hurt us pretty ****ing bad.
Sean Payton will make things just dandy, you'll see!

So let me get this straight -- in addition to projecting your gloomy mood tonight onto the next four years of Saints football, you are also worrying about hits on Brees that have not happened yet. OK.

I'm not giving up on this season. 9-7 is totally doable. Our guys have 10 days to get their minds right and get ready for New York. We may not make the playoffs, but the season isn't a total waste because of one game.

Sorry, guess I should have a beer and celebrate... :bs:

I've seen Brees getting clocked a lot more this year than the past 3 seasons. I also remember a game where someone fell on his throwing shoulder on a 3rd down and he went to the sidelines and had to work the kinks out.

All I'm trying to say is that the offensive line is not cutting it lately and he is taking a lot more hits than normal. That adds up - ask Peyton Manning, Big Ben and a host of others who are bigger built QBs than Drew.

Sure he can have another 10 Pro Bowl seasons - IF he gets the protection...
