Saints football isnt everything...

The whole ride to work this morning (enemy territory I might add) I am trying to convince myself that its over. Move on. Let it go. Saints football doesnt rule everything.

Not even 30 seconds later Im like "Yeah but we're not done yet". Then I pull out the phone to check this weeks schedule so I can start scoreboard watching lol.

Whats wrong with me?! Why cant I let it go!!

Am I the only one?!

You're not the only one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with hanging around in the bleachers until they officially turn off the lights, it's a part of fandom. But emotionally, yes, it's over -- let it go, don't stress out about it, don't invest energy in angst or worrying about stuff. I already know I will start to get amped up again this weekend, if a couple of these other teams lose their games, and that's OK.

The way it's been so far this year, I actually kind of feel like this particular team has one more shot in them, to claw their way back into possibly being distantly "in it" again, they might well get a couple of lucky bounces, find themselves vaguely in the hunt again, like around week 15/16, and then of course without Payton they'll crash and burn one more final dramatic time. But I'm not going to be heartbroken about any of it.

Very true

I just find it quite alarming brees has reverted back to his 2010 form and a player of his caliber that shows how great he can be, goes through these mental lapses for 2-4 games every season where he starts forcing passes

Tall talk... if you truly believed that you would be Christmas shopping right now instead of here.

Great post, I think this describes how I feel perfectly. Deep down I know its over, but if they get on a hot streak and a few other teams start losing, Ill get fired up for a sec.

But when they inevitably crash and burn I wont be near as pissed because the expectation left last night.

This is the Brees way and Ive learned to accept it. Pure greatness 70-80% of the season, with favre syndrome the other 20-30%. He really reminds me of the 08 Brees at the moment. Picks down the stretch that year did our post season hopes in.

HELL NO!! As long as we are mathematically alive I am believing we will make it. You can crawl up into a small ball and whimper, but I am going to continue wearing my colors and and pulling for my Saints until the final whistle has blown.

The season might be over in the sense that the Saints might not be able to get to the post-season, but it's definitely not over in any other sense of the word.

I'd personally watch every single game from start to finish even if the Saints went 0-16, because I love watching the Saints play, and I enjoy watching NFL football. I also like to watch the games for the individual performances within single plays and within the spectrum of the whole game and the whole season, regardless of whether the team wins or not. So even if the Saints were out of the race to become the champions this year, there's definitely numerous more reasons why to enjoy the rest of the season than to not.

I let it go, but if all those teams lose again like they did last week, I'm back in. But, I don't think that will happen again.

... I see your point, there is that grey area between Sundays, and that long drought between the SuperBowl & the preseason, but I can't really recall what goes on during those times,.

 ... yeah, I was going to say between "playoff elimination and the preseason", but that just made it seem longer and more painful,.

No...Saints football is not everything. There is also Giants' football and even Giants' baseball during the offseason.

You can't fault me for being a Giants' football fan because the son of NO's 2nd favorite son (use to be #1) is a Giant...who went to Ole Miss, which makes him very much like his dad, IMO.

No one can fault you for being a fan of Eli & the Giants ... they've won a few Superbowls & Eli hasn't given himself a hokey nickname, ... oh yeah, that's a thinly-veiled jab at you-know-who,.

I knew the season was over before it began, but I think the Saints have played with pride this year. This isnt some sort of meltdown of epic proportions. These arent the Haslett Saints. People are upset when they see a mistake-prone product occasionally, but I can promise that some old schoolers can testify that failure is all they've known for season after season after season..

Count your blessings. We arent the Chiefs.

May I suggest something a little more stable, with less drama?

Perhaps becoming a Kardashian and lighting firecrackers inserted into cubes of C4 with flint and steel.
