Stick around the NFL long enough and you'll see eventually see it all. Even Drew Brees throwing five interceptions in a single game.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (9) is called for delay of game late in the second quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta Thursday November 29, 2012.

It happened. I watched it with my very own eyes at the Georgia Dome on Thursday night.
Brees wasn't part of the reason the New Orleans Saints lost to the Falcons 23-13. He was THE reason they lost.

Not only did he throw five picks for the first time in his 12-year NFL career but his landmark streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass was snapped at 54.

Brees might play the rest of his career and never have another night like this. It started poorly and never got any better. The Saints' opening drive of the night ended in a Brees' interception, and their final two drives ended the same way.

He threw passes high, low and behind his receivers. Worse, he even did the unthinkable, botching a scoring opportunity inside the Falcons' 5-yard line before halftime with a mental mistake.

Brees has never played this poorly as a Saint. Ever. Nothing close.

The only thing Brees didn't botch on this night was the postgame press conference, where he admirably fell on the sword.

It looks like Drew's head wasn't in the game all night long. This was obvious by the non-scoring drive that closed out the first half. That said, his reads were slow most of the night. Three of the intercepts were due to him making late throws.

Atypically Drew.

He was right to fall on the sword. Im not going to give a medal for doing it though. I do blame him for the most part because it wasn't just the picks. As mentioned, the debacle at the end of the 2nd, he was waay off on most of his throws, even hopped one. He was late on delivery, stared down receivers..the list goes on.

But there also needs to be blame on Carmichael and Vitt. We started establishing the running game in the 2nd qtr. And we moved the ball very well. It was reported at the start of the 3rd that Vitt said they will be running the ball more and getting balanced. They did and we moved the ball at will. Then it went away as it always does. Why can't these fools calling the plays stay with what is working?? It is mind boggling. We started off not very balanced and balanced out in the 2nd and had success. We started the 3rd balanced and had success but it just kills them to not get pass happy.

Payton can't get back soon enough, especially for Brees, he needs his mentor now more than ever.

Mike mayock even said that.
Thsi is classic New orleans downhill power football. Running the ball which opens up play action and Brees taking shots down field. Not sure why the coaches fell Drew has to throw 50 times a game...
With the way Atlanta had his number all night the coaches done nothing to help our QB.... NOTHING

I just hope that Drew's throwing shoulder is OK and not injured in some way.

Faling on the sword is an important part of the repair and healing process. This will take the onus off MOST of the team, I mean Lance and Jimmy have soul searching to do on this one, but for the most part everyone else is pardoned.

It shows CLASS and PROFESSIONALISM.

Now... Let's get on with the dwelling on the fact that there's still a glimmer of hope if all other teams in the NFL catch the swine flu and lose and we win out!

I know I shouldnt say this, but this was my main concern about Henderson. He's the one that needs to step up in situations like this. Moore is under the spotlight now, you may not like this but when someone wins you ff games, he becomes a target for defenses. Players play fantasy football so they know what players to go after. Moore is not a defenseless receiver anymore or anymore than he was already. This shows that I feel we need a new receiver. One that is big and strong. We could find that in the draft in later rounds from a div II school.

Henderson has been a non-factor for a while. They were calling Morgan our speed threat on TV? Graham has also been off for the last few. Several key drops aided in Drew trying to do too much also.
