The strip against Atlanta in the 4th Qtr

If you remember the play, our defense held Turner up and stripped him, Bush recovered the fumble.

I ask you, what was the first thing you thought? I know personally I didn't think "great job", I yelled at the TV "why in the hell did you wait all this time to do that?!?!?!?"

Seriously, why haven't we been trying to strip balls ALL SEASON? Why did we wait until the 4th qtr in week 13?

If we tried things before we HAVE TO we probably would never HAVE TO.

Remember the Marshawn Lynch TD run against the Saints in the 2010 playoffs?

The Saints WERE trying to strip the ball, instead of tackling him!!

A lot of the long runs we were trying to strip the ball

In the very same game, turner ripped off a 35 yard gain which was the result of Jenkins and Vilma trying to strip the ball instead of tackle

Not my fault they don't know how to STOP the runner first.

Stripping the ball is destroying the will to tackle. It should be outlawed for the "good of the game." I'm sorry but how much "talent" does it take to have 3 guys hold a guy up while another one rips the ball from his grasp?

The only thing wrong that happend there is that they blew the whistle when it should have been a TD.

The Saints don't always seem to understand the whole concept of, the first guy in, he stands the guy up or stops his momentum, the second comes in and strips out the ball. Two Saints run up to a ball carrier, they either both either dive and fall helplessly at his feet, or they both flail at him with their arms flapping at his shoulder pads, and let him run right through them.

Dude, they are always trying to strip the ball. It's the biggest reason they tackle so poorly. Wrap up first, then let somebody else try to strip it. Instead, they all try to strip it at the same time. The play against the Clowns just happened to be a play where they got it right.

BS!

Diving at someone's knees or hips has nothing to do with stripping the ball the way they did in the OP.

Yeah, that's true -- but diving at someone's knees does not lead to stripping the ball, which through many months of football by the "WDOAT™" -- I took the liberty of trademarking the phrase "Worst Defense Of All Time" ™ in case it replaces "Who Dat" as a t-shirt money maker -- but sorry to disagree with you, but this whole policy of non-tackling, no catching, diving at the feet ****ers leads to the whole point of Oak wondering, "Why didn't we do this before now?" If you get my drift. This was a TEXTBOOK example of first guy stands him up ("Vilma's got a hold of him" the announcer says") and then Bush comes up with the strip, like I referred to in my earlier post. Textbook. Why didn't it happen before now? Ask the guys who dived at the feet.

Agreed. I'm sick of seeing all of this sh*t tackling all over the league. You learn how to tackle in high school. They first thing your coaches tell you is NOT to arm tackle when it comes to tackling. It should be simple in the pros.

Someone needs to take the fall for this nonsense.lf not spags then find him some hungry asst. Its total bs that these players get payed darn good money. They need to be diciplined. For the basic knowledge of playing this sport.

Here's to great tackling and great ball stripping ... all at the same time for our Saints Defense!
