How does this affect the Saints?

Glenn Dorsey, who the Saints had coveted, may just want to move on as he was better suited to a 4-3 defense which the Saints currently employ...

Yep, he is NOT a 3-4 DE or a 3-4 DT.

The guy is a 4-3 DT all day long.

You get a rotation of Bunkley/Hicks with Dorsey/Johnson, now that could be something with a younger, faster starting defensive end on the right (maybe Martez)...

The case against signing Jermon Bushrod...

First, asking price will be too high...

Second, the position is in need of upgrade/better play...

Third, Jimmy Graham will need to be resigned...

Fourth, how much will be committed to the offensive line?!?

Fifth, Saints Offensive Protection is based around the guards and Brees' read/release speed, not the tackles...

Loomis has to get with owner and decide how many contracts they'll convert (ie Brees, Evans, Grubbs, etc) to singing bonuses so the Saints can not only get under the salary cap, but make moves in Free Agency...

What if we cut 70-75% of our defensive players? How much moolah would that save? I can think of four, maybe five names I'd be disappointed not hear being called out next year. If you're wondering who those names are, they're the only ones being called for making good plays this year. Too bad Spags' paycheck doesn't count against the cap...

Because of their salaries, I expect Will Smith, Roman Harper, and Jon Vilma to be released...

Cam Jordan has played solid; Bunkley found his place, but could be a cap casualty; the other linebackers need to get healthy and develop chemistry...

If Jenkins can move to the RCB or SS, then we can worry about a natural Free Safety; Jarius Byrd would be great, but is he affordable with needs in the front seven?

I just don't understand why anyone would want to move our worst tackler to SS. RCB? OK fine. But SS? He'd be worse at SS than he is at FS, which isn't really a huge jump.:p

Bunkley would cost us 3.6 million to cut him, and 3.7 million to keep him.
Why do you think he'd be a cap casualty?

Agreed on all else tho.

But Bushrod is our best downfield blocker on screens which is a really big weapon for us with PT and ssproles.
