2 things I am tired of seeing in the secondary.

Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins.

Those 2 safeties the last 2-3 years have reminded me of the scrubs Gary Gibbs bought in at the position. Who were they? Kaesvaharn and ????

What they had in common was they always were out of place, couldnt cover, couldnt play the ball properly, and just didnt cut the mustard.

Its no wonder why Roman Harpers best asset on defense was doing something normally made for a LB, that was blitzing under Gregg Williams scheme.

I think we have seen what the position is suppose to be played like when Bush and Quddus have been in there, they seem a little more smarter to play those positions than the guys like Jenkins and Harpers whos been in the NFL for a few years now.

So full of fail its just not worth responding to anymore.

Good grief we have the most uninformed fans in the entire league.

not really, everytime a big play happens like the 2 Dez Bryant TD passes, who was the yahoos at Safety?

Harper and Jenkins.

Jenkins is out for the year, he wasn't in the cowboys game

Dez bryants two TD passes - first one Patrick Robinson didn't even locate or fight for the ball in the air, he was in man coverage

Second TD pass - Patrick Robinson fell down on a slant route, and as much as i like Quddus, his attempt at tackling Bryant was piss poor

Both TD passes were on Patrick Robinson, Harper was not on that side of the field and the long pass that got Dallas back into the game with 3 mins left was against Patrick robinson

I think the fault falls more on Patrick Robinson then the safties. It is his job to stay on the WR, but he has been getting beat all over the field nearly every week. I am not a huge fan of Harper and Jenkins either, but Robinson has been the achilles heel for us on D.

I thought OP was going to say Patrick Robinson and Patrick Robinson, to which I was going to agree.

Bryant is hard to cover period. Robinson was put on him and got beat, he is not there yet!! I hope White heals, he matches up better with the Bryants in the league. Robinson in my opionon is looking a little lost, I still have hope for him but he is on my watch list, hopefully next season is when the light comes on. I think Patrick has a high cealing but needs to get his feet wet more.

Bryant made a fool out him

And on the first TD Quddus took a bad angle on Bryant and failed to catch him in the foot race. We are so not better with Bush and Quddus at safety. That is just ridiculous. I do think we need to move Jenkins to SS though, put Harper in a big nickel role or a hybrid LBer position and upgrade the FS position.

Patrick Robinson was who I thought this thread would be about too. He's been terrible this year.

Go look at the film again. Go look at their grades. Anyone who thinks these safeties of ours aren't awful, hasn't a clue. Period. All the condescending remarks don't equate to knowledge. take a real look, and stop pretending to be above everyone else.

Yeah, Robinson isn't there yet and he ain't never gonna get there. Lets just face it. I have never seen a DB so lost out there. It's sad really.

Just what game were you watching?

If we're going to talk about everyone who sucks on defense, we could go on for a long time, fellas. But considering the original post is specifically about Harper and Jenkins, I don't disagree with anything that was said.

There's no question Patrick Robinson was terrible on Sunday. The prevent defense, however, is what allowed Dallas to come back. In the second half, we were really getting in their receivers faces, and hurrying a lot of Romo's throws. We had them completely shut down. And then it happened... Spagnuolo tried to fix what wasn't broken.

I wonder sometimes if some of our guys require an eyetest. Because guys seemed blind based on their coverage of Dallas TDs 1 and 4.

More truthful is that Patrick Robinson made a fool of himself.

The guy has been with a long time now really. So the prospect of a strong NFL career looks unlikely.

A lot of work needed in the Defensive backfield during the off-season. That's where I would spend the money, I'm sure SP and Spags are ready to go shopping.

Two Things I Hate About this Secondary:

(1) Mistackling

(2) LHH - Lack of Hard Hits

I daresay it's not just the Saints, but league-wide. The same level of play I've seen from Harper/Jenkins/Robinson/Quddus, I've seen while watching a lot of other teams on Sunday. It's a pandemic,.

Yes, but the the ineptitude of the Saints Secondary is going to make History this week...

Well, it's times like these I turn to the good book ... or Pro-Football-Reference.com, as some may call it ... for solace and in an attempt to make some sense of it all (the 2012 NFL Opposition & Defensive Statistics/Passing Defense chapter). 2012 NFL Opposition & Defensive Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Now I ain't sayin' they weren't bad and I ain't sayin' they shouldn't probably go after that Milner kid from Alabama in the first round, but what I am sayin' is, as bad as they are, there's worse.

Only three defenses (#27 CLE - 577, #32 TB - 583, #30 WAS - 599) have had more pass attempts against them than #31 NO - 568, yet 14 teams have a worse CMP% (percentage of passes completed) than the Saints 62.1%.

Despite giving up 4424 passing yds this season, TB is worse at 4545yds.

Sure, they've given up a league leading 31 passing TD's, but their TD% (percentage of TD's thrown when attempting to pass) of 5.5 is still better than KC/PHI's 6.0 and equal to TEN's 5.5.

They've intercepted more passes at (14) than MIA, JAC, OAK, MIN, IND, SD, BAL, DET, BUF, PHI, CIN, CAR, SF, NYJ, and PIT. DAL & KC, with (7) INT's each can only combine for a tie of the total INT's the Saints have this season. Their INT% of 2.5 is well above the Cowgirls 1.4 and the Steelers 1.8.

The QBR against them is a dismal 95.6, but guess what? The Cowgirls' is 95.7 and Raiders' is 96.0. It's not much, but I'll argue .1 all-day-long if that's all I got,.

So, I'm not sticking up for 'em because they do need to be accountable, I'm just looking for a little sumpin'-sumpin' to hold on to and throw back at the naysayers when & if they do set the record this weekend,.

Man, that is it all there. Every big play against us this year. And every DB was guilty of it at some point it seemed.
