New Orleans Saints guard Jahri Evans said it's still an honor to make the Pro Bowl even though he's making a regular habit of playing in the NFL's all-star game. Evans earned his fourth consecutive NFC roster spot Wednesday.

Evans felt like he had a strong 2012 season despite all of the adversity surrounding the Saints. Punter Thomas Morstead is the only sure bet to join Evans in Hawaii as he's the only other Saints player to earn a spot this season. Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and Jermon Bushrod were named as Pro Bowl alternates, according to a league source.

The seven-year guard received a hefty contract after the 2010 season, which made him at the time the highest-paid guard in league history. And all Evans has done since is earn two more Pro Bowl bids and was named All-Pro last season.

"I love the game," Evans said Thursday. "I love playing the game. I've always wanted to play this game since I was a little kid. I love to be successful and I love winning games. I love playing with the guys in this locker room and the fans in this city. That's drives me to play the game. Some guys to turn it off or take it down (after a big contract), but I'm not one of those guys and we don't have those guys in the locker room."

Morstead said he's still in disbelief that he made the Pro Bowl, but it's an awesome feeling. Morstead said he hasn't scouted out any Hawaii hot spots yet only saying that he could use a tan.

"Every year you're just trying to figure out a way to improve," Morstead said. "Statistically, you may not improve, but you're trying to figure out how to do things a little bit better. I see on the AFC side, I see guys like Dustin Colquitt, who's like a nine-year guy, and Phil Dawson, who's been in the league for like 14 years, make their first Pro Bowls. It's really hard to do. It's not like a position where they take two, three, four, five guys. One guy goes. It's definitely a special thing and it's definitely something I won't take for granted."

Morstead said he's taking his fiancé, members of his family and his soon-to-be in-laws and long snapper Justin Drescher to Hawaii for the festivities.

"He's a guy that' made an impression since he's been here in his career," special teams coach Greg McMahon said. "Because of his work ethic and the kind of guy he is, you always pull for players like that. For him to be voted by his peers, coaches around the league and fans is good for our team and good for him."

It's why he's the best at his position, another great draft steal
