New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Saturday that the team has placed RB Pierre Thomas on the reserve/injured list, ending the season for the six-year veteran. The Saints have signed CB A.J. Davis to the active roster from the team’s practice squad.

Thomas was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007 after playing at the University of Illinois and led the Saints in rushing in both 2008 and 2009. The former Illini has scored 33 career touchdowns and ranks seventh on the club’s all-time rushing list with 626 carries for 2,974 yards. His 4.8 yards per carry average ranks fourth in club record books and he is only the fourth player in franchise history to record 2,500 yards rushing and 1,500 yards receiving. Thomas played in in 15 games in 2012 and registered 105 carries for 473 yards (4.5 avg.) and one touchdown and also hauled in 39 receptions for 354 yards and a touchdown.

Davis, 6-0, 183, spent a significant amount of 2012 with the Saints as he competed for a roster spot during training camp and was signed to the practice squad on November 6. The Clay, Ala. native was a four-year letterman at Jacksonville State and totaled 126 tackles (97 solo), six interceptions, 17 passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.

to be expected why not add some depth if pierre is a no go this week

let him get healthy

Ingram may be carrying the load this game then

Sounds like some other team put a claim on him.

Looks like those people who want to trade Ingram might get their "showcase" game, to shop him around and let other teams out there know what he can or can't do, as an every-down feature back in a more conventional RB situation. So I suppose in that case, even if you hate Ingram and want him gone, you are STILL stuck hoping for him to do well on Sunday, LOL.

Remember when Reggie was the (only healthy) remaining "feature" back against Seattle? All during that week the talk from Reggie was "I can do it, it's on my shoulders, it's my time to shine." It was supposed to be his time to step up and have a big game and prove his worth. End result? His last game in a Saints uniform.

Ingram should have a good game. Carolina has a terrible run defense. I'm on the fence about trading him. I was almost ready to call him a bust but he came on later in the season and had a few good games. While I love to watch Ivory run, I don't believe he can stay healthy for the long haul. I like having a power running back to compliment Thomas and Sproles.

Ingram's been coming along nicely the second half of this season. The middle of Carolina's D-Line is garbage so look for Grubbs, de la Puente, and Evans to dominate and give Mark huge running lanes all game long.

Look for huge games from everyone. Last chance to make an impression before the draft and trades start.

Doesn't matter season is over anyway. Let him rest up for next year.

Ingram gets 150 yards Sunday.

I wouldn't be shocked if they where letting PT rest so that they can evaluate the secondary. As for showcasing Ingram to garner trade interest, I doubt it.
Ivory will be gone, I hate to say it cause he is a horse, but he doesn't have the pedigree that Ingram has plus look at what the saints gave up to get Ingram...on the plus side, Mark has been playing really well as of late, if he keeps it up and runs all over the panthers it might boost his confidence for next year.
